Though brief, Quincy Jones' cameo left a lasting impression on audiences and became a memorable moment for viewers. Beyond this on-screen appearance, Jones also shaped the show's success as an executive producer, guiding its early creative direction during the first season and solidifying his legacy in television production.

According to Essence News, between 1990 and 1992, the sitcom held the #12 spot among NBC's most-watched shows. It rose to #2 on the network's rankings the following year. At its height in the second season, it attracted close to 20 million viewers each week.

The music producer thought the sitcom was the final piece that "cemented" hip-hop in pop culture.

"I think 'Fresh Prince' and the success of the show was the final piece that cemented hip-hop into the pop culture lexicon," Jones said.

Will Smith was stopped by Hot 97 on June 5, 2024, where he reflected on the time of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and Jones as a producer. Smith said that the music producer mentored him during the sitcom.

"So Quincy Jones was the producer of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. He was mentoring me," Smith said.

Including this sitcom, Jones had given a remarkable and ever-green work with notable artists, including Michael Jackson.

Jones produced Michael Jackson's Thriller in 1982, which became the best-selling album of all time, blending pop, rock, and R&B. Jones' other works include Michael Jackson's Off the Wall 1979, George Benson's Give Me the Night 1980, and Frank Sinatra's Sinatra at the Sands 1966.

According to NPR, Jones' family has not yet confirmed the reason for his death. However, as per CNN, Jones had suffered from two brain aneurysms in the past, which he revealed in his 2018 documentary titled Quincy.

Also, in June 2023, he was rushed to hospital after getting a bad reaction to something he ate, as per the Los Angeles Times. However, it remains unclear whether these factors contributed to his death.
