SaySoTheMac previously struggled with addiction
According to an article published by Passion of Weiss on February 15, 2023, SaySoTheMac had faced vandalism and fraudulence charges in the past. He reportedly had to pay a 7-figure bail money. The late rapper hired Christopher Darden as his lawyer to proceed with his legal woes.
The outlet further reported that the rapper struggled with addiction and had to fight his way to acquire sobriety. The Mac reportedly called the issue a "generational cause". The Mac also took accountability for him and the Stinc Team promoting drugs like codeine and opiates in Los Angeles.
SaySoTheMac, born in South Central California, attended high school in Inglewood. He grew up with a single mother while his father spent most of his life in incarceration. Talking to Passion of Weiss in 2023, the rapper reflected on the negative impact of drug addiction and recalled watching his father leave on Christmas when he was 5.
"Ever since then, I just heard that he was loaded, popping windows out of cars, stealing and all that. Eventually it caught up with him and he went to prison," he said.
The Mac added:
"I was a skateboarder, I liked alternative rock and sh*t like that, but he was like a gangster. So from there, I went out of my way to be a tough guy."
The late rapper revealed his mother introduced him to alcohol when he was nine, stressing it wasn't "normal". He also described taking care of his mother as she was intoxicated.
