Tykeiya Dore, a pop and R&B singer from South Bronx, New York has filed a lawsuit against Drake and Chris Brown on October 25, 2024, in New Jersey over their 2019 hit, No Guidance. The lawsuit claims that the two artists ripped off Tykeiya Dore’s previously released track, I Got It.

The plaintiff mentioned in her complaint that Chris Brown and Drake used the “same chord progressions, tempo, pitch, key, melody, harmony, rhythm, structure, phrasing, and lyrics” as Dore’s track. The complaint alleged that Vinylz who works with Drake often keeps a check on Benji’s YouTube account, as he was the one who directed the music video for I Got It.

Hence, Dore mentioned in her complaint:

"Defendant Anderson Hernandez, professionally known as Vinylz, discovered and obtained access to Tykeiya’s song 'I Got It' and Cardi B’s songs on Benji Filmz's YouTube channel."

As per the lawsuit, the singer worked on the track in 2015 and uploaded it on YouTube in 2017, that is two years before Chris Brown released his collaborative track with Drake. She also mentioned that just a month after Brown released his track, she registered her song with the U.S. Copyright Office.

Tykeiya Dore, born in 1997, is a singer, who has written, sung and released many tracks like Nobody Loves You, Pretty Kitty, Spaceships and Bi*tches Run They Mouth.

With Chris Brown and Drake, Tykeiya Dore has also mentioned Google and YouTube as involved parties

Talking about the lawsuit filed by the singer, she also named YouTube and Google as defendants. Dore, represented by her attorney Marc Stephens, alleged that she posted a copyright comparison video between her song I Got It and No Guidance, which was unjustly removed.

For the same, Dore is now suing YouTube and Google for defamation, common law fraud, and emotional distress, seeking $5 million in damages. Furthermore, the lawsuit also mentioned Dore’s uncle, Jesse Spruils, as the singer alleged that the uncle provided a copy of her song to Nija Charles, the co-writer of No Guidance. She also stated that she got to know about the same just recently.

The lawsuit alleged:

“Defendant Chris Brown’s song ‘No Guidance’ was released and Plaintiff’s uncle contacted Nija Charles to confront her about stealing the chorus of Plaintiff’s song ‘I Got It.’ Defendant Nija Charles blocked Plaintiff’s uncle from her social media accounts.”

It continued:

“Plaintiff’s uncle felt incompetent, humiliated and embarrassed that he allowed the song ‘I Got It’ to be copied without being compensated, so he never told Plaintiff Tykeiya about it. It wasn’t until Plaintiff Tykeiya hired Marc Stephens, on May 21, 2024, that Plaintiff Tykeiya discovered that her uncle knew about Defendant Nija Charles and Vinlyz having access to her song.”
