In an alleged letter circulating on social media, Toronto Police deny rapper ScHoolboy Q's claims about his show being canceled. On Thursday, July 18, 2024, Reddit user u/Away_Ad945 shared a post on the thread r/Drizzy with a letter by the Toronto Police Services Board claiming,

"Toronto Police deny shutting down Schoolboy Q's concert TDE is in shambles."

Per the alleged email, signed by Shawn Mckenzie, a CRST (Canadian Registered Safety Technician), police denied playing any role in having the rapper's July 18 show canceled. It stated,

"Our primary role is to ensure public safety and security, particularly during events that draw large crowds. However, decisions regarding event cancellations or changes in venue are typically made by event organizers, venue management, or in some cases, due to logistical or contractual reasons."

The Reddit post came hours after the rapper took to his X to inform his fans that his concert was canceled as "Canadian police didn't want nobody from TDE performing."

As news of the alleged letter spread, internet users were left divided. One claimed that this was just pushing a narrative.

ScHoolboy Q claimed his Toronto show was cancelled because he appeared in Kendrick Lamar's Not Like Us MV

Earlier this week, ScHoolboy Q was gearing up to kick off his Blue Lips Weekends tour with a show in Toronto. Since it was a sold-out concert, the rapper offered fans tickets if they could prove they purchased his album (or related merchandise) of the same name, which debuted in March 2024.

However, the excitement was cut short when the rapper announced his opening show in the Canadian city was axed. He claimed police barred members from TDE (Top Dawg Entertainment) from performing there.

In a series of follow-up posts on X, the rapper told his fans that he got caught in the line of fire in the Drake vs. Kendrick Lamar rap battle. The two rappers were beefing earlier this year, dropping diss tracks aimed at the other's career and private life. This included Drake's Family Matters and Kendrick's Euphoria.

Lamar used to be signed to TDE. Despite parting ways, Kendrick has maintained a good relationship with the record label. Top executives and rappers signed to the label also appeared in the Compton-born rapper's music video for Not Like Us. This included ScHoolboy Q.

"Actually I get it.. Nvm this shit lokey hilarious... Iono why dot put me in that f*cking video."

ScHoolboy Q will perform in Chicago on July 20 as part of his "Blue Lips Weekends" tour.
