Charlamagne Tha God has reportedly issued a cease and desist notice to Donald Trump. This development comes after the former president featured edited clips of The Breakfast Club co-host in his new ad campaign. The advertisement used snippets from an episode of The Breakfast Club in which Charlamagne Tha God opined that he had a problem with using taxpayers' money to fund gender-reaffirming surgeries in prison inmates.
According to the Legal Information Institute by Cornell Law School, a cease and desist letter is a cautionary letter to an alleged wrongdoer in which the issuing person describes the alleged wrongdoing and demands that the deed be stopped. It also provides notice of future legal action if the alleged wrongdoer doesn't take steps to stop their actions.
Charlamagne The God presumably issued the cease and desist notice because Trump's campaign used clips from his podcast without prior permission. Furthermore, the 30-second advertisement featured an edited version and took snippets from his discussion without showing the entire conversation.
According to a report by All HipHop, Charlamagne Tha God has taken every possible step to get the advertisement pulled and has responded by saying:
“Cease and desist been sent. Since when does Trump care about what’s legal!?”
What did Charlamagne Tha God say about taxpayer's money being used for gender reaffirmation surgery for prisoners?
On September 30, 2024, radio host Charlamagne Tha God commented on Donald Trump's political advertisement campaign, which featured the former president's claim that Kamala Harris supports taxpayer-funded gender reaffirmation surgeries for prison inmates.
"That ad [Trump] was running during the football games this weekend claiming the vice president supports funding gender transition surgeries for all prison inmates and migrants in the U.S, that was nuts," the radio host commented on The Breakfast Club.
The advertisement condemning Kamala Harris began with the narrator explaining how the current Vice President has supported taxpayer-funded sex change surgeries for prisoners.
"Surgery for prisoners. Every transgender inmate in the prison system will have access," the advertisement showed Harris saying this during an interview with the National Center for Transgender Equality (NCTE).
The narrator in the ad explained how it was allegedly shocking for even the liberal media to discover that Kamala Harris supported government-aided sex change surgeries for prisoners.
"Kamala’s for they/them. President Trump is for you," the narrator continued.
Talking about the impact of the advertisement on The Breakfast Club, Charlamagne Tha God said:
"I don’t know if it was the backdrop of football, but when you hear the narrator say Kamala supports taxpayer-funded sex changes for prisoners, he said. "I was like, 'Hell no. I don't want my taxpayer dollars going to that.'"
In a 2019 campaign questionnaire (as reported by CNN), Kamala Harris asserted that it was important for non-binary and transgender people to get the care they needed. She also explained how she supported federal prisoners and ICE detainees who needed surgical and other forms of care for gender transition surgeries.
“Transition treatment is a medical necessity, and I will direct all federal agencies responsible for providing essential medical care to deliver transition treatment,” she said to the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).
As the race between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris reaches its final lapse, there is less than one month remaining until the United States presidential election day on November 5, 2024.
