Foo Fighters, who kicked off the second US leg of their "Everything Or Nothing At All" stadium tour at Citi Field in Queens, New York, on July 17, 2024, had to cancel their show because of severe thunderstorms. In a video going viral on X, the band was in the middle of performing Everlong when frontman Dave Grohl halted the song and said,
"We gotta stop. Listen, this f--king sucks, believe me. If I could do something about it, I would. Just f--king hold tight, you guys are going to be safe, everyone is gonna be safe. Like, we can come back and play, we will. Listen, you know we f--king love you, you know we'll be back for you, right? Go get safe, we'll see you in a bit. Alright, go get safe."
At 10:33 PM EST, Citi Field's official X account announced that the show was canceled because of the "continued presence of lightning in the area," urging fans to "exit the venue."
Foo Fighters later released a statement on social media, adding they had to cut the show for the safety of their fans and crew.
“We are so disappointed that we were unable to play our full set for tonight’s fantastic crowd at Citi Field. But the safety of our fans, the crew and everyone working in the stadium comes first, so when it was determined that there was no safe way to continue the show in this dangerous weather, we had no choice but to call it a night."
Foo Fighters added they were looking forward to performing at Citi Field on July 19 as per the scheduled tour dates.
Foo Fighters' "Everything Or Nothing At All" Tour started on May 1, 2024
Foo Fighters kicked off their "Everything Or Nothing At All" Tour in Dallas on May 1, to promote the band's 11th studio album, But Here We Are. The first US leg of the tour ran from May 1 to May 11 and the band performed in Dallas, New Orleans, Daytona Beach, Atlanta, Charlotte, and Raleigh.
The band then traveled to the UK and Europe for the second leg of their tour from June 13, making pit stops in England, Scotland, Wales, Poland, Denmark, and France, with the last show in Werchter, Belgium on July 7.
While performing in London, Dave Grohl faced backlash on social media after he joked about Taylor Swift, insinuating that she does not perform live. Swift had coincidentally performed her "The Eras Tour" at Wembley Stadium that same day.
According to their website, the second US leg of the tour began with the now-canceled show at Citi Field in New York on Wednesday, July 17. The band will perform their second show at the venue on Friday.
Foo Fighters are to perform in Minneapolis, Denver, Los Angeles, and San Diego, with the tour concluding at T-Mobile Park in Seattle on August 18, 2024.
Foo Fighters released But Here We Are on June 2, 2023, marking it the band's first album since the death of their drummer Taylor Hawkins. According to The Guardian, a toxicology report showed at least 10 substances in his body when he died in Bogotá because of a cardiovascular collapse on March 25, 2022.
