Months after Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley made serious s*xual abuse allegations against former manager and fellow musician Greig Nori, the two are now in the middle of counter lawsuits. Back in October 2024, Whibley claimed via his memoir Walking Disaster: My Life Through Heaven and Hell that Nori abused him, recalling instances when the band's former manager "grabbed" his face and "kiss [him] on the mouth passionately" without consent.

Moreover, the Sum 41 frontman accused the Treble Charger musician of verbally abusing him. He claimed that Nori's advances made him feel like he was being forced to do something he didn't want to do. In his interview with the Toronto Star on December 21, 2024, he dared Nori to challenge his allegations in court, saying:

"If he wants to challenge it, I welcome that. Let's go to court. Let's go under oath. That would be f*cking great. I welcome that part. Let's get into discovery. I'll have my lawyers grill you."

Now, it appears that the court may very well be involved.

On Wednesday, January 15, SooToday and Village Report reported about court documents stating that Greig Nori has filed a notice of action against Deryck Whibley, seeking over 46 million in damages over Whibley's s*xual abuse and grooming allegations.

Whibley also reportedly countered with his notice of action, slapping Nori with $3 million in damages. He further accused him of defamation and placing the plaintiff in a false light.

As for Nori's filing, the outlets further noted that the Treble Charger frontman is also seeking damages for "breach of confidence, intrusion upon seclusion, wrongful disclosure of private facts, and placing the plaintiff in a false light." Meanwhile, Whibley's counternotice was in line with Nori calling him a liar after he made the s*xual abuse allegations.

Greig Nori previously denied Deryck Whibley's s*xual abuse allegations

Nori has previously denied that he s*xually abused Whibley. Following the Sum 41 musician's allegations in October last year, Nori responded with a prepared statement shared with media outlets on October 10, 2024.

He denied engaging in a non-consensual s*xual relationship with Whibley but admitted that there was a consensual s*xual relationship between them, further saying:

"When the relationship began, Whibley was an adult, as was I. The accusation that I pressured Whibley to continue the relationship is false. The accusation that I pressured Whibley to continue the relationship by accusing him of homophobia is false."

He further claimed that it was Deryck Whibley who initiated the relationship, not him, saying:

"The accusation that I initiated the relationship is false. I did not initiate it. Whibley initiated it, aggressively."

Following Nori's statement, Deryck Whibley countered with his own, slamming the band's former manager for calling him a liar. On October 15, 2024, the Sum 41 frontman shared a video on social media and said:

"It's come to my attention that Greig Nori has now called me a liar. I'll tell you right now, I stand behind every word that's in my book, 100 per cent. I'm not a liar."

In the same video, he spoke directly to Nori, asking him to take the matter to court and prove that he was a liar in front of a judge and a jury.
