South American rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine has been issued an international arrest warrant after the Dominican Republic's Court of Appeals for the Judicial District of La Vega declared him in "rebellion" in June 2024, as per reports from Diario Libre. Tekashi had fled the country in June 2024.
The arrest warrant was issued after 6ix9ine allegedly assaulted his girlfriend, Yailin La Mas Viral, and several members of a production team in October 2023. The producers filed a request with Dominican authorities, citing that the rapper failed to comply with his legal obligations, leading to his departure from the Dominican Republic.
The international arrest warrant against 6ix9ine allows the Dominican Republic to trail his arrest globally, irrespective of the location. Interpol is also on alert and can detain the rapper in any part of the world. Along with the arrest warrant, the court has ordered the execution of an imposed financial guarantee of 500,000 Dominican Pesos, or around $8,400, granting Dominican Police the authority to seek assistance from Interpol.
More about Tekashi 6ix9ine's arrest
Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine was recently issued an international arrest warrant for allegedly assaulting members of a production team and his girlfriend in October 2023.
In October 2023, Dominican Republic police took the rapper into custody at the Hotel Balcones del Atlantico in Sanchez. Fellow musician Diamond La Mafia, during an Instagram Live session, narrated the incident and reportedly claimed that the dispute allegedly stemmed from Tekashi's jealousy over the producers spending more time with his girlfriend Yailin.
Producer Diamond La Mafia told Diario Libre in October 2023:
"He grabbed my two producers, trashed out my studio, through no fault of their own, without knowing him. He also threatened me by video call to fight, saying he was armed."
While in custody, Tekashi reassured his fans through social media, stating, "I'm fine, healthy, and safe." He was released the next week on bail after paying $10,000, as per the entertainment show El Gordo y La Flaca.
Judge Adais Sanchez ordered Tekashi to not leave the country for six months, a directive he violated by traveling to the United States in June 2024.
On August 29, 2024, 6ix9ine posted a video on Instagram stories where he can be seen singing his new song La Baby in a vehicle alongside two other people. The location was tagged as Nitra, Slovakia, which could reportedly mean that he is defying the arrest warrant and traveling globally.
Tekashi is known for getting himself into trouble, having spent nearly two years in federal confinement for racketeering in 2020.
