American singer-songwriter Justin Timberlake has canceled his December 2, 2024, concert at the Paycom Center in Oklahoma City due to a back injury. The announcement was made via his Instagram Story on November 30, where Timberlake apologized to fans, explaining,
"I'm so sorry Oklahoma City. I have to cancel the show on 12/2. I hurt my back in NOLA and my doctors have instructed me to rest a little bit longer. Thank you for your support—y’all know I hate doing this."
This cancellation marks the eighth postponed date on The Forget Tomorrow World Tour, which began in April. Timberlake previously rescheduled six shows in October: Columbus, Detroit, Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul, and Grand Rapids due to bronchitis and laryngitis.
Earlier, an October performance in Newark was also delayed because of an unspecified injury, though he managed to perform there a week later.
Justin Timberlake's back injury forces eighth postponement on tour
The tour, supporting Justin Timberlake’s latest album Everything I Thought It Was, has faced several disruptions. Despite these setbacks, the tour is set to resume on December 4 in Houston. The ongoing leg runs through December 20, followed by a holiday break before resuming on January 13, 2025.
The tour includes performances across North America and scheduled appearances at festivals in South America and Europe.
Justin Timberlake has not disclosed the specifics of his back injury or a potential recovery timeline. Fans in Oklahoma City are still waiting for news on a rescheduled date, and Timberlake has promised updates. Meanwhile, those interested can track changes and future dates on his official website.
Timberlake's back injury follows a series of health issues impacting the tour. As per Rolling Stone, bronchitis and laryngitis prompted Timberlake to postpone several shows in October. Before that, he had to reschedule an October performance due to another injury, and in February, he canceled a London show because of illness.
Justin Timberlake was arrested for drunk driving in the early hours of June 18, 2024, in Sag Harbor, Long Island. Rolling Stone reported that he faced a DUI charge after being arrested in the Hamptons in June. He later pleaded guilty, using the opportunity to warn fans against drunk driving.
"This is a mistake that I made, but I’m hoping that whoever is watching and listening right now can learn from this mistake," Timberlake stated outside the courthouse.
According to The Independent, police observed Timberlake running a stop sign and swerving in his vehicle after leaving the American Hotel, a popular Hamptons spot.
The outlet further reported that he reportedly failed field sobriety tests and was taken into custody around 12:17 a.m. He was arraigned later that day and released without bail, with a court date scheduled for July 26
The Forget Tomorrow World Tour promotes Timberlake's sixth studio album, Everything I Thought It Was, released in March 2024. The album debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 and marks his first solo effort since 2018’s Man of the Woods. It has received mixed reviews, but tracks like Selfish and Technicolor have been fan favorites during live shows.
Justin Timberlake is expected to return to the stage on December 4 in Houston, provided he recovers as advised by his doctors.
