Kanye West has recently been sued by BlackGrid USA Inc. and BlackGrid London Ltd. for posting his photographs with his wife Bianca Censori on Instagram and on the Yeezy website.

As per reports, BackGrid USA Inc. and its British affiliate, Backgrid London Ltd., accused Ye of using 10 photos without paying for the rights, potentially costing the company "hundreds of thousands of dollars" in lost revenue per picture. This act violates the federal copyright law. The company further alleged that Ye used the photos to procure financial gains and increase traffic on his website and social media sites.

BlackGrid USA Inc. claimed that they tried to resolve the matter amicably by talking to the rapper, but that bore no fruit. Therefore, it has now sued Kanye West and reportedly demands $150,000 per photograph along with injunctive relief and attorney fees.

Kanye West reportedly shut his old Instagram account in February 2024 after notifying his followers that he will move to a new Instagram account with his new name, Ye. The 46-year-old rapper legally changed his name to Ye from Kanye Omari West in October 2021 and cited personal reasons for the same.

At that time, Kanye explained that 'ye' is the most commonly used word in the Bible. Eventually, he changed his name from Kanye to Ye on all possible platforms, but it was difficult to get rid of his old name on social media platforms like Instagram and X.

Therefore, he finally closed his old account after sharing the screenshot of a chat with singer Justin LaBoy. It read:

"I'm closing my Kanye West Instagram account. My name is Ye. No brand or numbers gonna force me to call myself what they want me to still be."

In a now-deleted caption, he insisted that no one has the potential to 'bully' him and he implored everyone to call him by his new name and stop using Kanye West.

"Somebody has Ye as an account. I would like to have my name so I can change my account to my legal name. Nobody finna bully nothing Not no promoters Not no DSPs I don't care. My name is Ye now. You call me Kanye West then you calling me out of my name," captioned the rapper.

In a follow-up post (which is now deleted), Kanye shared another chat with LaBoy where the latter assured him that Instagram would change his name from Kanye to Ye.

"They just got into the office and called immediately. Waiting on info they need to make it happen today," said the post.

Thereafter, the Famous rapper focused on his ex-wife Kim Kardashian and ranted about how she should not send their kids to Sierra Canyon school. Ye has often talked about his hatred for his kids' current school and has talked about Kim Kardashian stopping him from getting the kids enrolled in Kanye's old school, Donda Academy.

In a now-deleted Instagram post, Kanye ranted:

"KIM TAKE MY KIDS OUT OF SIERRA CANYON NOW. IT'S A FAKE SCHOOL FOR CELEBRITIES THAT ARE USED BY "THE SYSTEM."

Last year, Kanye also went on an anti-Semitic rant (which is now deleted) where he blasted Sierra Canyon School and called it a zionist institution.

Kanye might have to pay over 1.5 million dollars if he is to lose this lawsuit.
