Kevin Mares, a gunshot victim from Lil Baby's recent music video shoot, has filed a $600,000 lawsuit against the rapper's management company and others involved in the production. The lawsuit claims there was allegedly a lack of adequate protection by the music production company and security firms, leading to dangerous injuries.

On May 14, 2024, two unidentified individuals reportedly opened fire at Verbena Street in Atlanta, where Lil Baby was shooting a music video. Kevin Mares, who was reportedly involved in the video production, was hit on his neck during the incident. Mares is now suing Shotclock LLC, the production company overseeing the shoot, and Lil Baby's music company, Quality Control Music, LLC.

The lawsuit accuses both production houses of allegedly failing to provide adequate security during the music video shoot. It claims the defendants "negligently failed to exercise reasonable care in the performance, training, and staffing of the specific security services required for an international recording artist production."

The lawsuit further mentions security firms Cannon Executive Protection Agency, LLC, and Tactical Elite Protection Services, LLC for alleged subcontraction of security services without approval and lack of adequately trained professionals. However, Lil Baby is not named in the lawsuit.

Mares' attorney, Peter A Law, also alleged the defendants were aware of potential dangers in the area which is historically known for violent crimes.

“Defendants knew or should have known that a significant number of violent crimes were committed in the surrounding area," as stated in the lawsuit.

Kevin Mares is demanding compensation worth $680,000 for his medical expenses due to pain, suffering, and decreased ability to work. He also seeks punitive damages, alleging that the parties concerned showed “a conscious indifference to consequences.”

As per the police, they rushed to the location after hearing reports of gunfire. The news website Atlantanewsfirst, reported that shooting for a music video was taking place near the area at around 4:45 pm.

The caller sounded like he was panicking and could not provide any details. Another caller reportedly told the police that an individual had suffered a gunshot wound on their neck and was being taken to the hospital.

Things went haywire when some bystanders were also allegedly shot. Rapper Lil Baby was reportedly not involved in the same. Cops reportedly confiscated multiple vehicles from the scene as evidence.

At the time of the APD's arrival at the location, paramedics were already on the spot to administer the wounds of two out of three gunshot victims. The three men are expected to recover from their injuries, as per TMZ.
