On October 24, 2024, a local court ordered rapper Lil Xan to pay Anthony Sanchez, reportedly a Tupac fan, a sum of $27,000 for an incident from 2020. At the time, Xan had allegedly pulled out a gun during a heated debate at a 7-Eleven store in Los Angeles.
Sanchez filed a complaint against the rapper a few years ago after the incident, but the latter didn't respond to the lawsuit. This led to the judge to enter a default judgment of $27,823.89 in damages and other fines to the complainant.
As per the court documents submitted by Sanchez, he got into a heated debate with Lil Xan over Tupac Shakur, as the fan confronted the rapper for calling the All Eyes of Me singer “boring” in 2018.
Furthermore, a clip of the incident went viral on social media which showed Anthony Sanchez calling Lil Xan “a bitch,” after which, furious Xan took out his gun and threatened Anthony by pointing it towards him. In his complaint, Sanchez wrote how he was afraid for his life at the time.
The controversy started when Lil Xan called Tupac’s music “boring” in 2018 during an interview: More details revealed
The Hip-Hop community was left shocked when Xan appeared for an interview with REVOLT TV in 2018, and during his one-to-one, he called Tupac’s music “boring.” While Tupac did not respond to Xan’s comments at the time, the rapper was met with a lot of criticism from the masses and the fans.
Furthermore, this is not the first time that Xan was confronted by Tupac fans, as previously he faced the same with a bunch of college students, as they gathered around the rapper for his comments. He was then taken to Del Taco in Redlands, California until the students vacated the area.
Thereafter, in a 2023 interview with All Hip Hop, Xan stated how he regrets calling Tupac “boring,” as he claimed that he was angry at the time. The rapper said:
"That interview should’ve never even been aired ‘cause I wasn’t in a good place during the interview. I was angry at that time. And all that came down to was a result of me just trying to get the interview done quicker. I was like, ‘Next question. Next question.’ And then they just give me questions and I’m messing around.”
He continued by calling Tupac a “legend,” and stated:
“I think Tupac is a legend. I don’t have to explain myself to anybody, but I grew on a lot of old school West Coast, a lot of old school East Coast. But after that, that was just a little mishap. It was the result of me not being as mature as I am today, inexperienced with interviews a lot too.”
While the news about Lil Xan being asked to pay $27,000 in damages to the Tupac Shakur fan continues to garner reactions from the masses, the rapper has not yet addressed the same and has maintained silence on the matter.
