On Wednesday, January 1, 2025, rapper Burna Boy performed at the Greater Lagos Countdown in Lagos, Nigeria. He was a part of the star-studded concert, which also included Seyi Vibez, but when a fan allegedly rushed past security, things took a turn.

The rapper and the fan allegedly got into a fight during the concert. Burna halted his performance and walked off stage as a security agent removed the fan, In the videos of the concert that went viral, he can be seen disappointed and angry.

Meanwhile, social media users have responded to the confrontation and the singer's exit from the stage in a mixed manner. Once the clip of the entire event went public, people took to thejasminebrand’s Instagram post to react to the same. One even asked why he punished his audience by leaving the stage.

Others took to @benny7gg’s post and criticized him. One asked if he would have done that in Europe or the USA. Another one said that he shouldn’t have done that.

“Question… Was he going to kick the fan or leave the stage if he was in Europe or the US???? These artists only do this to fellow Africans,” wrote one user.

“Someone paid you for a show, you delivered your own side of the job halfway because a fan jumped on the stage to touch you. I’m yet to understand the rationale behind him leaving the stage in such an awful way. Does Burna Boy not get touched by humans?” asked another user.

“This isn't still enough reason for Burna Boy to have left the stage. You are performing to your people. He's needs to stop acting like he's doing them a favour,” wrote another one.

Meanwhile, many users supported him as they took to the same X post and said that he had every right to protect himself. Another one alleged that he didn’t get paid and was doing the authorities a favor.

“He has every right to protect his safety,” one user defended them.

“Well he originally was supposed to be on stage for 10 minutes and didn’t get paid for this so was being nice and gave them a hour free…” stated another one.

“Some people don’t understand why he vex but it’s normal.. You can’t know why someone is running like this.. He could want to hurt him or steal him,” another one suggested.

Burna Boy, a Grammy winner, has drawn mixed reactions for departing the stage too soon during his Greater Lagos Countdown 2025 performance. Wizkid, Burna Boy, and a few other Nigerian A-list performers performed during the Greater Lagos Countdown to welcome the New Year on Wednesday at the Tafawa Balewa Square.

The event was arranged by the Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture. However, it went south quickly as a fight broke out between the singer and a fan during the concert.

This happened as a fan allegedly ran toward the singer in the stage after breaking through security. As a result, the rapper exited the stage before finishing his planned performance. In the viral videos, he is seen performing and then allegedly kicking the fan who rushed towards him.

Additionally, the footage also shows Burna Boy signaling to the DJ to stop the music because he didn't want to continue playing. After that, he left the stage. Meanwhile, the concert took place prior to his 2025 European tour.

Burna Boy is expected to do three gigs throughout Europe in the entire 2025. On April 14, he will perform at the Stade De France in Saint-Denis, France, on July 5, at Waldbuhne in Berlin, Germany, on July 6, and Sparkassenparky in Monchengladbach, Germany.
