All throughout the year, Kendrick Lamar and Drake have been in the news for their beef and rap war. Billboard has now released the revenue that both rappers earned from each of the diss tracks and the numbers have left the masses shocked. As per the publication, Drake and Kendrick Lamar earned a total of $15.3 million from six songs.
It is worth noting that Billboard did not include the revenue from songs like Taylor Made Freestyle, 616 in LA, and The Heart Part 6 as they did not make it to streaming. Billboard stated that Kendrick Lamar’s hit, Not Like Us generated a total of $7.6 million, followed by Like That, which made $4.6 million. On the other hand, Drake also managed to generate $982K from his diss track, Family Matters.
The next few tracks that also garnered the rappers a whopping amount were Push Ups which made $970,000, Meet The Grahams, which earned the rapper $795,000 and Euphoria which earned Lamar $441,000.
As soon as the news about the revenue reached the masses, several comments poured in. An X user, @big_business posted the numbers on the platform, and another user responded and said:
“Why would they release this?”
“I’d love to understand the logistics of this. How the hell has a song that was playing nonstop everywhere by every media publication, only generated 9 million? The song basically streamed enough times to have gone double platinum at least,” wrote one X user.
“Hilarious how Kendrick bodied Drake in every category known to man,” added another social media user.
“Best song in the beef made less money,” stated one more.
Furthermore, several were also left shocked as they anticipated that Lamar’s Euphoria would garner more revenue.
“Euphoria numbers make 0 sense. It had almost a week by itself and 6:16 wasn’t on DSPs to hog air time,” commented a netizen.
“Someone explain for me the euphoria numbers it’s like the 3rd song from the beef with the most streams (genuine question)” exclaimed one more.
“Ironically Euphoria is the best track on here lol,” wrote another social media user.
“Not Like Us” music video garnered 190 million views in 5 months: Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s rap war explored
Drake and Kendrick Lamar have released many tracks this year dissing each other. However, the most popular song amongst the masses has been Not Like Us by Kendrick Lamar.
It is worth noting that the music video of the song has garnered close to 190 million views in just 5 months, whereas the lyrical video also has 182 million views in 7 months.
For the unversed, Drake and Lamar were previously on good terms with each other, as the two collaborated on a number of songs in 2011. However, the feud between the two began in 2013, when Kendrick Lamar released a song, Control, dissing Drake and other rappers.
While the two remained cordial with each other for the last decade, the rap war reignited in March 2024, after Lamar released Like That dissing Drake and J. Cole. Drake then dissed Kendrick in his songs, Push Ups and Taylor Made Freestyle. Furthermore, Lamar then released other tracks like Euphoria, and 6:16 In LA. Drake also responded to the songs with The Heart Part 6.
While Drizzy and K Dot continue to make big bucks from the songs released in the last year, neither Kendrick Lamar nor Drake have yet reacted to the huge earnings through the diss tracks.
