Well-known rapper Rygin King was arrested on July 8, 2024, on multiple charges related to weapon, firearm, and ammunition possession, along with five others. King denied the charges after being taken to court and was later released on bail. The 28-year-old is known for singles such as Blue Note.

On Saturday, July 13, Rygin King opened up on the legal issue through Instagram Story. He shared a statement on his Story which reads:

"Mi wah know how can I get my album to be promoted the way how I see you guys is promoting something that yuh know, unuh nuh really know 100% about… TVJ, Smile Jamaica, Jamaica, The Jamaican diaspora… 'mi a beg unuh like stop promote f*ckery bro."

Although he appeared in court on July 12, his hearing has been postponed to August 1 this year.


Rygin King expresses gratitude towards his fans for support after his arrest: Incident explored

The Jamaican native was arrested in Queens on July 8, 2024, while in his car with several others. The vehicle was stopped by the cops, and King, along with his wife Ileene Parker-Smith, Kemor Palmer, Derol Tate, Rashaun Linton, and Jovaughn Brown, were charged.

As reported by Observer Online, Jovaughn Brown, who was driving the vehicle, faced additional charges, including vehicle and license violations, false impersonation, and an illegal signal. During the police search, a gun was reportedly found with King.

While Rygin King responded to the arrest through his Instagram Story, he later posted a video, thanking his fans for their support. He wrote:

"Your belief in me has always been a driving force behind everything I do. I want to assure you all that I will never disappoint you. Every step I take is with your encouragement in mind, and I am committed to proving that your trust in me is well-placed."

King stated that he had full faith in the verdict that would come out in the next hearing and that he would "continue to achieve great things." Rygin added that his fans have a lot of faith in him, and the same "will be rewarded."

Also known as Matthew Smith, King's career in the music industry has been heavily influenced by Buju Banton. He developed an interest in music after leaving high school and decided to establish himself in this field in his early 20s.

He released several singles between 2017 and 2019, including Feel Like This, Tuff, and Star Life. The music video for his song 3ZN remains the most popular project on his list, garnering around 3 million views on YouTube. During his time at Erwin High School, he performed at many talent shows.

Rygin King was 18 years old when he participated in a local DJ competition. He told Red Bull in an interview in 2019 that he has always believed in the music he creates and is willing to make an impact that would be remembered by everyone.
