Wizards of Waverly Place alum, Jennifer Stone recently spoke up on Selena Gomez and Miley Cyrus’ equation with each other while the two shot together for the Disney set.
On episode 64 of her Rewatch podcast, Jennifer Stone spoke about Disney’s popular Wizards on Deck with Hannah Montana episode, which brought together the Hannah Montana stars with the cast of Wizards of Waverly Place and The Suite Life on Deck in one episode.
Jennifer Stone revealed how during the shoot of the popular episode, Selena Gomez and Miley Cyrus never shared the screen. As Jennifer Stone’s co-host, David DeLuise asked if “they not get along during that shoot or something?” Stone then revealed that Selena Gomez and Miley Cyrus “intermittently got along,” as both of them dated Nick Jonas, one after the other.
Jennifer said:
“They intermittently got along. I mean, come on. It was, like, high school. They both dated Nick (Jonas). I think Miley dated him first and then Selena dated him, and then it was it was just messy high school nonsense."
However, Stone then concluded and said that Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez are “fine now” and “they are all good now.”
The popular Wizards on Deck with Hannah Montana was a crossover between the three original Disney shows, that aired on Disney Channel’s Big Five Friday on July 17, 2009. The episodes of the trilogy were aired on Season 2 of the Wizards of Waverly Place, Season 1 of The Suite Life on Deck, and Season 3 on Hannah Montana.
“We never feuded”— Selena Gomez’s old statement about tension with Miley Cyrus explored as Jennifer Stone reveals why the two never shared screen
The rumors about Gomez dating Nick Jonas shortly after the youngest Jonas Brother dated Miley Cyrus were widespread back in the day when the two singers used to be Disney stars. The topic was brought back after decades on Jennifer Stone’s podcast, which also confirmed that there was indeed some tension between Selena Gomez and Miley Cyrus.
However, just like Jennifer mentioned that the two are fine with each other now, Gomez also spoke to W Magazine in 2016, and revealed that the two “never feuded.” Denying any serious conflict between the two, Selena Gomez said:
“We never feuded. We both liked the same guy when we were 16. It was just a Hilary Duff–Lindsay Lohan thing: ‘Oh, my God, we like the same boy!’ We are now completely settled in our own lives.”
The two were also seen together on Miley Cyrus’ Live talk show on Instagram, Bright Minded in 2020. Furthermore, Cyrus and Gomez both released their singles on the same day in 2023, for which Gomez even posted on Instagram stating how the two “have been friends since we USED TO BE YOUNG.”
While many social media users are now commenting on the revelation made by Jennifer Stone, neither Cyrus nor Gomez have commented on their equation during the shoot of the episode. The two are also yet to react to Stone's statement on her podcast.
