Exploring Sleepy Hallow’s legal woes as rapper goes viral for court altercation
Brooklyn rappers Sleepy Hallow and Sheff G were two of 32 other alleged gang members who were arrested in a 140-count indictment in 2023. They were arrested after it was discovered that they were involved in a shooting dating back to 2019.
According to New York Daily News, the two musicians treated their fellow gang members to a luxurious Manhattan steakhouse dinner at Prospect Lefferts Gardens, where they allegedly killed 23-year-old Theodore Senior. It was also alleged that the gang members injured 13 others.
Law enforcement claimed that the gang members used pig Latin (secret language) to conceal their identities over phone calls. Sleepy Hallow was arrested alongside Sheff G and other gang members after it was found that they were also allegedly connected to 27 violent acts that included shootings.
Sleepy Hallow served eight months behind bars for weapon possession in relation to another case. The rapper now remains on bail.
His criminal case also caught the attention of Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez on May 25, 2024. In a statement to the Associated Press, Gonzalez stated that rappers like Hallow and Sheff G should be held accountable for their organized crimes.
“They take people out, and they’re able to spend money. And they’re able to encourage others to do some of the gang violence that’s critically important to them and their status in the community,” Gonzalez added.
Sleepy Hallow also made headlines for appearing in a Donald Trump presidential rally that took place in New York in May this year. At one point, he stepped near the microphone and screamed at an excited crowd, “Make America great again.”
