T.I., also known as Clifford Joseph Harris Jr., was arrested on August 5, 2024, at the Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta. The arrest reportedly occurred due to mistaken identity, stemming from an arrest warrant issued for another man, also named Clifford Harris.
T.I. was passing through security checks when the alarm bells became active, even though he was not the person being sought by the authorities. He was taken to Clayton County Jail, where the issue of mistaken identity was clarified during an extradition hearing.
Notably, the other individual with an arrest warrant was wanted in Baltimore. The person was reportedly accused of being involved in violent behavior towards a woman alongside charges related to stalking and a weapon. The charges were imposed back in June this year.
The rapper was taken into custody at around 4:31 p.m. and released two hours later with help from his attorney. Clifford's representative has not shared any response to the arrest, and the artist is yet to reveal more details from his side.
Clifford is already dealing with another legal issue alongside his wife, Tiny Harris, after the duo were accused of s*xual assault in January this year. This charge emerged out of a lawsuit filed by an anonymous woman who reportedly claimed that she was drugged by the couple in 2005 in Los Angeles. The woman was then allegedly r*ped inside a hotel room.
Recent updates in the s*xual assault case indicate that Clifford and Tiny approached a federal judge in California last month to dismiss the lawsuit, stating that the legal documents could not prove any of the claims made against them.
T.I.'s new solo album is scheduled to be released soon
The Atlanta, Georgia native has released 11 albums in his career, and his next big project is arriving soon. The upcoming album, titled Kill the King, does not yet have a confirmed release date. It will be released through record label Grand Hustle Records, and the single, What It's Come To, was released in 2021.
Kill the King will also mark T.I.'s final album. In an interview with Insider last year, Clifford discussed more details about the project in detail. He stated at the time that the album would include the lessons that he learned over the years. He added:
"When you look at my first two albums, 'I'm Serious' and 'Trap Muzik', you're looking at a young man from the trap who had just been afforded the opportunity to live his dream in a new industry where there was so much to learn and to be done."
T.I. added that he has seen a lot of things in the last 20 years and he wants to give a conclusion to the same. He elaborated on the meaning behind the album's title, calling it a "metaphor for killing the ego."
In another conversation on The Baller Alert Show in October 2023, T.I. opened up on the music of the album, stating:
"So, my last album is Kill the King, which will be, you know, it's gon' be edgy, energetic. It's gon' have a lot of Tip in it… but I've been making somewhat, I guess, more melodic, you know, more R&B vibes, Afrobeat-R&B vibe, party music."
The 43-year-old's last album, The L.I.B.R.A., was released back in 2020 and reached the 18th spot on the US Billboard 200.
