Billie Eilish surprised fans when she brought out Charli XCX to perform their hit song Guess from the latter's remix version of Brat during Eilish's show in Inglewood on December 17, 2024. The event was the antepenultimate show from the North American leg of Billie Eilish's 'Hit Me Hard and Soft Tour.'

Eilish and Charli's performance sent fans into a tizzy as the Kia Forum was lit with green lasers reminiscent of Brat's quintessential neon green branding.

Eilish has two more shows in Inglewood (December 20 and 21) before embarking on the Australian and European leg from February 2025.

While the joint performance stole the show, fans could not help but comment on Billie Eilish's attire during her performance.

The Bad Guy singer was dressed in her usual baggy clothing, which included a knee-length purple T-shirt, oversized red shorts and a blue baseball hat.

The outfits turned heads on social media, with one person questioning:

"Why is she wearing her bed covers?"

Several netizens claimed that the singer looked like a little kid playing dress-up.

"Billie looks like a 6 year old playing in they parents clothes," one person tweeted.
"Why is she wearing her dad’s clothes….." another person added.
"Why does billie look like that... on tour?" someone else questioned.

However, others seemingly liked her style, saying she looked like she was embodying a retro vibe.

"Billie’s fit looking like she belongs in a 2002 hip hop video Retro vibes," one fan said.
"I love that billie has a laid back wardrobe, she doesn't try to fit into that pop girl mode of being half naked while performing lol she's dressing for comfort," another user added.
"Just love how Billie Dresses," someone else commented.

Billie Eilish has often spoken about her body image issues

Billie Eilish has often been candid about suffering from body image issues and how that contributed to her choice of clothing. The singer started her career wearing baggy clothes, however, her style took a sharp turn when she released Happier Than Ever in 2021.

During that era, Eilish embraced her femininity, dying her hair blond and wearing huge ball gowns to events.

However, Billie Eilish has seemingly reverted to her former style of late. During a recent interview with Complex published on December 5, 2024, Eilish explained her styling choices and how they were influenced by her "body problems."

When the interviewer asked her why she switched up her style between her first and second albums and reverted to her baggy style during her third album, the singer said:

"I think life is always about going back to who you originally were. The older I get, the more I'm doing things I did when I was a kid, and being who I was when I was a kid."

Billie Eilish elaborated that she had always loved fashion since she was a kid, resorting to wearing fairy dresses when she was younger. But that changed when she was around 11 years old and became obsessed with a brand called Brandy Melville, a company that famously sold clothes in one size.

The singer said that she was chubbier at the time and couldn't fit into that size, which resulted in her being self-conscious about her appearance. This insecurity was further heightened when she started ballet.

"When I got to be about 11, I got obsessed with this brand called Brandy Melville. And they only sold clothes in one size. I was chubbier and I was obsessed with these clothes, but I'd buy a shirt and it wouldn't fit me. That's when my body problems started. I was around the age of 10 or 11. I got b*obs at like 9, and I was just developing really early. I wasn't slim. Also, I was in ballet, and that's this whole world of body problems," Eilish said.

Billie Eilish said she started wearing baggy clothes at that time because it helped her feel comfortable as her outfit was just an outfit, not a part of her body.

She further elaborated that she embraced her femininity during Happier Than Ever after people focused on her baggy clothes, claiming she wasn't desirable.

"Then [my career] got to be big, and when I was around 16, I was put in such a box of, like, “Billie Eilish wears baggy clothes only. And she's not a woman. And she doesn't look like a girl. And she's not desirable.” So when I made Happier Than Ever, I was kind of like, “OK, people have decided that I'm this one thing. And I am that thing. But I'm also all these other things,"" she said.

Billie Eilish said her style during that era was to prove a point that she could switch things up and do whatever she wanted.

She added that she was grateful for the experimentation as it helped free her from the box and embrace her style.

This is not the only interview where Billie Eilish has opened up about her clothing style. During a November 2023 interview with Variety, the singer reiterated similar points, adding she chose to wear baggy clothes because she did not want people to have access to her body.

Billie Eilish encountered fame when she was a teenager. The singer released her debut album in 2019 when she was only 17. She turned 23 on December 18, 2024.
