Daniel Platzman joined Imagine Dragons in 2011
Daniel Platzman became a part of Imagine Dragons in 2011, three years after the band's inception in 2008. The American pop-rock band was formed by frontman Dan Reynolds and original drummer Andrew Tolman at Brigham Young University. After Tolman left the band in 2011, Platzman was recruited, just before the band's record deal in November 2011.
Platzman was an active member of Imagine Dragons between 2011 and 2023, working with the band to release hit albums like Night Visions and Smoke + Mirrors. On March 3, 2023, the drummer announced he would not join the band on their South American tour, adding that the hiatus was to focus on his health. He was replaced by the original drummer Tolman during the tour.
Daniel Platzman was absent from press photos and music videos for Imagine Dragon's April 2024 album Loom. It is the only Imagine Dragons album to be released without the drummer.
The band's current line-up includes Ben McKee, Dan Reynolds and Wayne Sermon. It is unclear who will replace Daniel Platzman as the drummer. However, Tolman has been filling in for Platzman since his hiatus in 2023.
Imagine Dragons is currently on its fifth tour, titled the Loom World Tour. The tour, which began in New Jersey on July 30, will see the band travel around the US, Canada, Brazil, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Taiwan. The tour's last show will be in Tokyo, Japan, on December 3, 2024.
