On Thursday, August 29, rapper Gucci Mane posted a photo of Sexyy Red on his Instagram story, giving shoutout to her after she seemingly got a new face tattoo. What caught most peoples' attention was that the tattoo resembled one that Mane had.
The shoutout story was posted shortly after Red uploaded a video on her Instagram story, flaunting an ice cream cone tattoo on the side of her face. In his story, Mane wrote,
"Wow Twin u hardd @sexyyred brr."
Sexyy Red soon reposted the comment made by Gucci Mane. He then posted another story with a caption that read:
"Sexyy Guwop, stop playing ya dig."
The tattoo, however, didn't seem permanent since it wasn't visible in a number of posts of that timeline. A number of fans reacted to Red's tattoo, and they didn't necessarily like it.
For the unversed, Gucci Mane made it to the headlines back in 2011 when he got an ice-cream tattoo under his right eye. According to XXL Mag, this was when Mane was just released from a mental health institution, that he got the tattoo done.
The outlet further mentioned that he had later talked about it and revealed that while he didn't regret the ice-cream tattoo, he believed that he wouldn't have possibly gotten it done had he been in a more stable state of mind.
Story behind Gucci Mane's ice cream cone tattoo on his face
As mentioned, the 44-year-old rapper got this tattoo done when he had just come out of a mental health facility. In a 2023 interview with Fader magazine, Mane spoke about the permanent ink. He said,
"The backstory to that was I wasn’t in a healthy place at the time. If I could do it over again, I probably wouldn’t have did it. But, you know, I don’t regret it at all. That was just a sporadic thing I did."
The interviewer further asked him if he considered himself as someone who had begun the trend of face tattoos. To this, Mane replied:
"I won’t take credit for starting the trend, but I think I definitely made people think it was something cool to do."
While netizens seemed disappointed and hoped that Sexyy Red's tattoo wasn't permanent, the rapper herself has not yet confirmed anything. Talking about face tattoos, it is worth noting that Gucci Mane wasn't the only celebrity to have a face tattoo.
There are a number of celebrities who have regularly flaunted their tattoos, especially the ones on their face. The list includes Drake, Anwar Hadid, Justin Bieber, Kehlani, Amber Rose, Post Malone, Offset, Lil Wayne, and Mike Tyson.
While a lot of celebrities have been inked permanently, many seem quite against it. This included Taylor Swift, Ice-T, Big Sean and Megan Thee Stallion.
