Lil Wayne has reportedly recorded a diss track targeted at Kendrick Lamar, as per Joe Budden. The news comes after Kendrick's new album, GNX, was released on November 22, 2024, which featured the rapper speaking on his dispute with Wayne in the single Wacced Out Murals.
The claims of the diss track came from Joe Budden during a recent conversation on The Joe Budden Network. The conversation video is now getting a lot of attention on different platforms.
In the viral clip, Budden hinted that Wayne allegedly attempted to get in touch with Kendrick Lamar after the release of GNX but Lamar did not respond. Budden's statement in the conversation video mentioned:
"This Kendrick s**t, I am hearing that somebody went in the studio after they heard this album. Somebody picked up the phone, tried to call and see what their energy was. Hearing that Kendrick didn't answer."
There were two more people in the video and one of them claimed that Lamar had once told him that he could stay without a phone for months. Budden then replied by saying:
"Yeah but if I'm calling you rapper to rapper and you don't answer, it's like what Mark told f**king Flip when they had their s**t. Now I am going in the booth. You have until I get into that booth to hit me back? Hit me back."
Meanwhile, netizens took to the comments section of a tweet posted by Say Cheese to share their responses and one person wrote:
"Yall gon learn why Weezy is the best rapper alive."
Similar reactions continued with Wayne's supporters addressing his popularity compared to Lamar.
"Kendrick's career is about to be wraps once that record drops lol," a user mentioned on X.
"I get Kendrick is popular rn but let's be honest, he's no Weezy," another netizen wrote on X.
On the other hand, Kendrick Lamar's fans also reacted and most of them criticized Wayne for his decision to release a diss track.
"Wayne struggling to come up with a double entendre," one person said.
"Oh no another mid song from Lil Wayne I'm so scared…," another reaction read on X.
"Bruh no one trynna listen to Wayne rap in 2024 he’s washed," another user mentioned on X.
Kendrick Lamar seemingly addressed Lil Wayne's disappointment in his song
Kendrick Lamar's GNX included a song titled Wacced Out Murals where he referred to Lil Wayne's album Tha Carter III in the lyrics. The album, which came out back in 2008, was able to grab a spot on top of the Billboard charts. Lamar's lyrics stated:
"Used to bump Tha Carter III, I held my Rollie chain proud / Irony, I think my hard work let Lil Wayne down."
Lamar was selected to perform at the Super Bowl Halftime Show scheduled to be held in New Orleans in February 2025 and he announced the same through YouTube in September this year.
The same month, Lil Wayne expressed his disappointment on Instagram for being unable to perform at the event without referring to Kendrick Lamar, since New Orleans is his hometown. Wayne said in the clip that he was hurt and continued:
"I blame myself for not being mentally prepared for a letdown. And for automatically mentally putting myself in that position like somebody told me that was my position. So I blame myself for that."
Lamar referred to his selection for Super Bowl Halftime Show in the lyrics as he said:
"Won the Super Bowl and Nas the only one congratulate me / All these n****s agitated / I'm just glad it's on their faces / Quite frankly, plenty artist but they outdated / Old-a*s flows trying to convince me that you they favorite."
While Lil Wayne had not directly responded to Kendrick Lamar until now, it remains to be seen if the latest report of the former releasing a diss track turns out to be true in the upcoming days.
