Rapper Yak Gotti was recently stabbed in jail as a jury considers his fate in the YSL RICO trial. According to a report WSB-TV released on Monday, December 2, 2024, the rapper and another prisoner were assaulted during a physical altercation on Sunday, December 1, inside the south annex of the Fulton County Jail in Union City, Georgia.
The Fulton County Sheriff's Office clarified that someone had used a sharp item to injure the singer, whose real name is Deamonte Kendrick. Nevertheless, he survived the incident after receiving treatment for minor injuries. The authorities further said it is still an ongoing investigation, and there may be charges based on the findings.
The incident occurred after jurors deliberated his verdict in the YSL RICO trial. The lawyer for one of the other co-defendants confirmed the stabbing early on Monday. According to Douglas Weinstein, he anticipates that Kendrick will make a full recovery soon.
More details about the YSL RICO case as Young Thug took a plea deal but Yak Gotti didn't

As per iheart's December 2 report, the statement from the Fulton County Sheriff's Office said:
"Deamonte Kendrick, also known as rapper Yak Gotti, and another jail resident were in a physical altercation on Sunday, December 1. Kendrick received treatment for minor injuries from a sharp object at the Fulton County Jail."
They further said:
"The incident occurred at the South Annex in Union City, where both men were being housed. Kendrick will be in court today. This is an active investigation to determine the aggressor in this incident and if charges will be pending."
Yak Gotti and Shannon Stillwell, who was also stabbed in jail last year, are the only two co-defendants still on trial in the Young Stoner Life case. After Young Thug agreed to a plea bargain in October 2023, the longest trial in Georgia history continued.
According to the terms of his probation and plea agreement, Young Thug must refrain from visiting his hometown of Atlanta for the next ten years. He must not flash any real or suspected criminal gang signs. Additionally, he should complete 100 hours of community service over the next fifteen years and keep no firearms in his possession.
On the other hand, Yak Gotti faces three charges of violating the Georgia Controlled Substances Act. He has also faced one count of conspiracy to violate Georgia's Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act. Additionally, he is facing one count of involvement in criminal street gang activity and one count of murder.
Furthermore, Yak Gotti has been charged with the possession of a firearm while committing a felony, possession of a machine gun, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon who has been convicted of a felony involving the use or possession of a firearm.
On the other hand, Stillwell is accused of two murders and two counts of being involved in criminal street gang activity. He is also facing one count of possessing a firearm while committing a felony, one count of possessing a firearm by a convicted felon convicted of a firearm-related offense, and one count of violating RICO.
Nevertheless, Stillwell and Yak Gotti refused plea agreements and insisted on their innocence. A week ago on Monday, prosecutors and defense lawyers presented their closing arguments. This week, the jury will return to court to resume its deliberations. Despite his latest attack, Kendrick is also anticipated to appear in court.
Judge Paige Reese Whitaker of the Fulton County Superior Court formally charged the jury on Tuesday, December 3, to start deliberating. It all began when numerous allegations pertaining to organized crime, firearms, and drugs had been brought against Young Thug and several other people.
The celebrity rapper had previously been imprisoned for more than a year and a half while awaiting trial. Prosecutors have been trying to prove that Young Slime Life, or YSL, is a criminal street gang that has committed a lot of crimes. Defense lawyers claim that Young Stoner Life is just the name of a record company and not a gang.
