JPEGMAFIA is the latest rapper in line to take shots at Drake, dissing the Canadian rapper in two back-to-back songs in his new album titled I Lay Down My Life For You, released on August 1, 2024. JPEGMAFIA, also known as Peggy by his fans, followed Kendrick Lamar's footsteps by alluding to Drake being a p*dophile and predator in his songs It's Dark and Hell is Hot and New Black History featuring Vince Staples.

The unprovoked diss tracks confused fans. Several were left wondering why Peggy was targeting Drake, with one person tweeting:

Some people speculated that JPEGMAFIA was trying to capitalize on the hype surrounding the Kendrick Lamar-Drake beef. The feud dominated the hip-hop industry for several months since it first kicked off in March 2024 after Lamar's guest verse in Metro Boomin and Future's Like That.

"bro think he apart of the rap beef , nobody even knows him," one person tweeted.
"Didn’t even know he was included in the beef hahaha but this s*** kinda coo ngl," another person added.
"anything to help inflate ur album ig," one user said.
"he dont even know what crashing out even means" another netizen questioned.

However, others quickly pointed out that Peggy had been dissing Drake for years. Some were elated at having another Drake diss track to listen to.

"i have no clue why are people acting surprised, jpegmafia has been dissing drake for damn near a decade. his first song on his first album is a drake diss. catch up people," one user explained.
"people saying “who is JPEGMAFIA” like he isn’t 500x more talented than Drake lol," another person wrote.
"No way another one?" another netizen tweeted.

What did JPEGMAFIA say about Drake in his diss tracks?

JPEGMAFIA's fifth studio album, I Lay Down My Life For You, dropped on August 1, following Scaring the H***, his 2023 collaborative album with Danny Brown. The 14-track album featured artists like Vince Staples, Denzel Curry, and Buzzy Lee.

The year 2024 saw many artists take shots at Drake, including Rick Ross, Metro Boomin, Future, A$AP Rocky, Childish Gambino, and, most notably, Kendrick Lamar. JPEGMAFIA is the latest to join the list, dropping two back-to-back Drake diss tracks in his new album. In the 4th track of the album, It's Dark and Hell Is Hot, he raps:

"I can count all of my industry friends on my hands/ And my n****s, they be in demand/ Obviously, rappers, they know what it is/ If I show you a Drac', I ain't playin' with kids."

The word "Drac" is a direct call back to the double entendre in Lamar's Euphoria, pronounced as "Drake" in both songs. The song's title also referred to the late rapper DMX's debut album of the same name. DMX was known to famously dislike Drake, a fact he mentioned in several interviews.

The "industry friends" line is possibly a reference to Drake's 2018 track No Friends In the Industry.

In the 5th track New Black History, Peggy name-dropped Drizzy, once again alleging the Canadian rapper was a p*dophile, a recurring theme that came up in Lamar's diss track Not Like Us.

"'Specially when ya'll cashing out for PDF's and r*pers (No Drizzy)," Peggy raps.

While these shots at Drake may seem unprovoked, JPEGMAFIA has always been upfront with his penchant for dissing the Canadian rapper. In a 2018 Billboard interview, he said dissing Drake was a way of paying homage to him.

“I been randomly dissing Drake for like five years. I don’t know why. I guess, because Drake, it’s kinda you know what? I thought before, I don’t actually have a problem with Drake. I really don’t hate him. I guess it’s my f***ed up, trolly internet way of paying homage to him and just paying homage to how big he actually is," he said.

He also commented on the Kendrick-Drake diss battle on social media, bequeathing his title of "biggest Drake hater" to Lamar.
