Media personality DJ Akademiks has ignited a heated debate in the hip-hop community with his recent remarks surrounding rapper Rapsody and Jay-Z.

On December 7, 2024, during the streaming session on Twitch, Akademiks responded to the rapper Rapsody's seemingly diss in a freestyle rap performance over the instrumental of Kendrick Lamar's song TV Off on Sway In The Morning, according to All Hip Hop.

As a result, Akademiks referenced the previous allegations surrounding his record label's owner and insinuated that Rapsody's association with Jay-Z is not as virtuous as being "signed to Jesus".

"You ain't signed to Jesus baby girl, you signed to Jay-Z. Let's keep that fact up there because I'm always down to talk," DJ said.

DJ Akademiks called out Rapsody just a day before news emerged on December 8, 2024, that Jay-Z and Diddy were accused of s*xual misconduct involving a 13-year-old girl in the year 2000, according to Variety.

Over the weekend, during an appearance on Sway in the Morning, Rapsody delivered a freestyle over Kendrick Lamar's track, seemingly aiming at DJ Akademiks.

According to All Hip Hop, this may have stemmed from Akademiks' perceived alignment with Drake amidst Drake's long-standing lyrical feud with Kendrick Lamar. In her performance, Rapsody appeared to call out Akademiks.

"Feel like a Greek how I be stepping on these b***h*n***as, Akademik / Affidavits, entertainment n***as who got open cases/Women charges, they say you violated," Rapsody rapped.

In response, DJ Akademiks addressed Rapsody during a live session, starting by questioning her affiliation with Roc Nation.

"I do want to ask you this one question Rapsody. You signed to Roc Nation. I hope you go up there to the office. Do you ever do that? [...] This is where my rap battle, where my diss song is gonna be at with you," DJ began.

He further implied that she may not fully understand the implications of signing with the label, alluding to open legal cases involving its founder.

"When you talk about people with open cases, you know how many open cases your mans got? That run the label that you on? Do you know how many cases got settled that we didn't hear about but I know about, even though the NDA is strong?" DJ continued.

Akademiks concluded by suggesting that Rapsody risks appearing hypocritical, claiming that during the 1990s, individuals in the industry were allegedly engaged in questionable activities.

The discussion around Jay-Z's alleged "open cases," referenced by DJ Akademiks, surfaced just a day before a lawsuit was formally filed against the Roc Nation founder.

According to Variety, the lawsuit, led by attorney Tony Buzbee, was initially filed in October 2024. At the time, only Diddy's name was mentioned following his arrest on charges of s*x trafficking, racketeering, and transportation for the purpose of engaging in prostitution.

However, Jay-Z's name also emerged over the weekend in connection to the allegations. The lawsuit claims that Jay-Z and Diddy s*xually assaulted a 13-year-old girl, whose identity remains anonymous, at an MTV Video Music Awards afterparty in 2000.

On Sunday, December 8, 2024, Variety reported that Jay-Z responded to the allegations, stating that attorney Tony Buzbee had made an erroneous judgment and emphasized that not all celebrities are the same.

"You have made a terrible error in judgment thinking that all ‘celebrities’ are the same. I’m not from your moral world. I’m a young man who made it out of the project of Brooklyn," Jay Z wrote.

In response to Jay-Z's denial of the allegations, attorney Tony Buzbee took to X on December 9, 2024, accusing Jay-Z of attempting to bully him and even suing him over the lawsuit he filed.

As of now, Jay-Z has not responded to Buzbee's tweet, nor has Rapsody addressed DJ Akademiks' comments made during his Twitch livestream.
