Beyoncé joined in the Netflix buffering joke on the eve of her much-hyped NFL halftime show at NRG Stadium, taking a dig at the streaming service and its last major live event. The superstar and the streaming giant both shared a teaser clip on Tuesday morning, December 24, 2024, giving fans a peek into her performance for the halftime of the Ravens vs. Texans game on Christmas Day.
In the video, Beyoncé can be seen strumming on a banjo, but around 20 seconds into the clip, it buffers for a few seconds before she winks and smiles. The "buffering" bit appeared to be a dig about Netflix running into the same problems during its live stream of the Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul boxing match in mid-November. Furthermore, along with the teaser, the singer wrote:
"I'm sending you big joy and love on this Cowboy Christmas Eve. I'll see y'all tomorrow, in my city HTX."
After the clip made rounds on social media, fans reacted to Beyoncé's subtle reference to Netflix's buffering problem, with one netizen urging the streaming service to "get it right" this time.
"You better get it RIGHT!" a user on X commented.
Other fans also joined in on the joke in the comment section of Beyoncé's teaser post on X, with people jokingly threatening Netflix with a lawsuit if the live stream were to buffer during the singer's performance.
"Question is are you ready? If that performance buffers even 1 second, I'm filing a lawsuit," an X user commented.
"@Netflix you'll be getting a class action lawsuit if we see any buffering," another user said.
"Netflix girl stop playing with me. If Bey buffers tomorrow be ready to square up," a netizen added.
Meanwhile, other fans commented that adding the buffer joke in the teaser video was "genius."
"Am I the only one who thought the loading in the middle of the ad was hilariously genius," an X user commented.
"It's the little laugh for me. She's laughing in our faces," another user remarked.

More about Beyoncé's highly anticipated performance for NFL Halftime Show live on Netflix
The NFL first announced Beyoncé's halftime appearance at the Ravens vs. Texans NFL Christmas Gameday in mid-November. A Billboard article on November 18 reported that the game, scheduled for December 25, will be streaming live on Netflix from the NRG Stadium in Bey's hometown of Houston, Texas.
The halftime appearance will mark the singer's first live performance since she released her chart-topping album Cowboy Carter in March this year. Additionally, it will mark her return to the NFL halftime stage over a decade after her memorable halftime performance and reunion with Destiny's Child in 2013. The songstress also joined alongside Bruno Mars and Coldplay in 2016.
Her halftime performance will be part of the Christmas Day doubleheader, kicking off with the game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Pittsburg Steelers at 1:00 pm ET. Following this, the second game will be between the Texans and the Ravens at 4:30 pm ET.
Both the games and Beyoncé's halftime show will stream live on Netflix, while regional broadcasts and mobile access will be available via NFL+.
