Rapper Lil Nas X recently garnered netizens' attention after he uploaded a video on X on September 2, Monday, about starting over and wrote another post on the same platform on the same day, explaining why it's hard being a gay rapper.

He said in the X video,

"Starting over is embarrassing and you just got to do it. Anyway, you got to start over regardless."

In a separate X post on the same day, the rapper said that there aren't enough "homos*xual vixens" in the hip-hop community for him to date. He joked about the situation and wrote,

"Being a gay rapper is hard. Straight ni*gas got all the baddies. We need more known homose*ual vixens! Where are our Clermont twins, where is OUR Lori Harvey, we deserve a Brittany Renner too!"

However, his video wasn’t well received by the netizens. They took to Instagram to mostly criticize the rapper. One netizen even said that he had “blood” in his shoes.

This was in reference to the fact that the rapper had launched a controversial pair of Satan Shoes featuring a bronze pentagram, an inverted cross, and a drop of real human blood in March 2021.

Meanwhile, while some said he is “fishing for sympathy”, others said that he has “mocked God”.

On September 2, rapper and singer Lil Nas X uploaded a video on X, where he said that starting over is ok and urged his audiences to be in the present and enjoy the moment.

Stating the same, he said,

“I mean... why not?... You just got to be where you are. You got to start from where you are. You got a stand next to yourself, stand beside yourself, stand beside your ideas then besides your dreams, be where you are. Stop trying to cling on to what was, so that you can become that next version of you.”

The rapper further added,

“I haven't even had my next big thing. Yeah, but I know it's coming, you know. And it can feel embarrassing like having all these eyes on you while you start something new. You have to let them watch. Enjoy the f*cking show.”

However, the majority of comments on the video were negative. A netizen even mentioned the occasion when the artist utilized a drop of actual human blood on his shoes to debut Satan Shoes in collaboration with the New York-based art collective MSCHF.

Nike Air Max 97s were used to create the black and red sneakers, although, later, the sportswear company distanced itself from the design. It even denied any involvement in the creation of the customized sneakers in an email response sent to CNN in March 2021.

On the other hand, as per CNN, a representative for MSCHF stated that participants in the art group had donated the blood,

“We love to sacrifice for our art.”

Later, during a video conference, they clarified to the internet users that the creative team utilized the same kind of needle used in at-home diabetes tests to gather individual drops over the course of a week. Additionally, they informed CNN that Nike was “not involved in this in any capacity.”

CNN further reported that since the launch of the shoes, they caused a stir online and drew criticism from prominent political and religious figures such as South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem and the evangelical pastor Mark Burns.

In a tweet, Burns even called the footwear "evil" and "heresy." Meanwhile, a few of the singer's followers tweeted in support of the rapper and wished to get their hands on a pair.

Lil Nas X has not yet commented about the criticism received on his recent video on X.
