Rapper Azealia Banks shuts down claims of her eviction from her Miami home over alleged unpaid rents. On Friday, July 5, 2024, the 33-year-old singer took to her Instagram stories to set the record straight, stating the rumors were a "lie."
For the uninitiated, earlier this week screenshots of a lawsuit filed by Isis Claro (Banks' landlord) against the singer began circulating online. Images of the alleged complaint show that Banks owed Claro $8,000 in unpaid rent. Per the rumors, Claro requested permission to evict Banks, and the rapper reportedly has three days to vacate her home.
As the claims gained traction, Azealia Banks decided to clear the air. In a now-deleted story, she shared a screenshot of one such post by X user Pop Tingz with the caption:
"Umm. This is a lie. Lamo these Miami landlords be despeeeeraaaate. I've already moved CXO HQ to 7995 SE 154th Terrace, Palmetti Bay, FL 33157."
In a separate story, she added:
"Lamo why do these tostones grease bathing white wannabes in Miami really think Im gonna play with them? Pop Tingz better correct that sh*t. You can search the public record... There is no eviction ordered by any court."
"That was clear intent to cause injury" — Azealia Banks slams landlord, files countersuit for harassment
In her subsequent stories, the Liquorice singer explained her landord was a "drunk" who was "menacing (her) the entire time (she) lived there." Banks detailed an incident involving the landlords (Banks' stories suggest they are a couple) when the wife asked her husband to come into her home, claiming to fix broken outlets, and took pictures of her undergarments.
Banks alleged that the homeowners used all of the deposit she paid for the house because "they're too broke." Additionally, she claimed to have spent over $30,000 on repairs, which the landlords refused to pay back for similar reasons.
"Lol did sis really try to reveal my personal address...... Well. Way to up the ante. Because that was a clear intent to cause injury," Azealia Banks continued.
The Luxury rapper, expressing her exasperation, wrote that the problems have been going on for the last two years and she is unable to "concentrate." She added that she hired the landlord's daughter to work at CXO, but the wife ended up stealing the daughter's money. Banks even alleged that the wife has drunkenly called her "like (they were) besties" previously.
Per an exclusive report by In Touch Weekly, Azealia Banks countersued the two homeowners (an initial lawsuit was filed sometime in June) for "egregious conduct and harassment." The suit claimed that the singer "complied with all controlling terms of the parties’ lease agreement," which included timely rent payments.
Per the publication, she also accused the landlords of threats of financial injury. Banks' lawsuit asked for the return of her security deposit and attorney fees. The report added that the judge has yet to rule.
