Diddy, whose real name is Sean Combs, was spotted reconnecting with his old friend G. Dep after months of laying low amid s*x trafficking allegations and a resurfaced video of his 2016 assault on his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura. G. Dep was previously incarcerated for murder in 2010. He was released in April 2024 after New York's governor granted clemency.

In a new Instagram post uploaded on September 8, 2024, the two friends are seen sitting beside each other on a stoop. The post's caption read:

"+ Praise the Creator!!! Around! Let's get it! +"

The photo received mixed responses from people. While some were happy that the two old friends reunited after years, others were wary of the rapper due to his many allegations. One person commented on G. Dep's caption praising God, writing:

Many agreed with the sentiment, claiming the rapper was using G. Dep after his other associates turned their backs on him.

"Diddy only using u right now bc nobody else tryna stand next to him."
"Nah G, this ain't it. Hope this didn't go beyond a picture."
"Get the attention for the free, but don’t sign no paperwork with that man."
"No fam u don't need him! Horrible look."

However, some other fans defended the artists, adding that the two were old friends who had known each other for years.

"That’s over 25 years of friendship yall expect them not to link and Diddy ain’t been found guilty of nothing evaluate ya self instead of others get money Dep."
"That’s great bro !!! It can only help ! Everyone deserves grace ."
"Gdep said he was trying to get in touch with Diddy and he did! Diddy want found guilty of anything yet. We saw the tape yes and he apologized. It was horrific but don’t put a dark cloud on Gdeps happiness right now. He just got out jail and trying to do his thing."

G. Dep expressed interest in working with Diddy after he was released from prison

G. Dep, released from prison in April 2024, said he wrote hundreds of songs while incarcerated and wanted to work with Diddy. G. Dep was previously signed with Diddy's label, Bad Boy Records.

“I got a lot of songs, bro. I’m looking for you so we can get some type of musical situation going," he said in an interview with Fox 5 New York.

He also added that people should give Diddy the benefit of the doubt amid his assault and s*x trafficking allegations. The rapper claimed he didn't know where these allegations came from, adding that the pair spent a lot of time together in recording studios.

In 2010, G. Dep confessed to a murder he committed in 1993. He was sentenced to prison for 15 years. He was granted clemency and released in 13 years. In the interview, he added that Combs never came to visit him while he was in prison, saying:

“He [Diddy] reached out to me inadvertently. Like videos, a couple of interviews, I heard him shout me out. … I couldn’t expect too much from anybody—that wasn’t what type of time that was. I went in there with my own volition.”

G. Dep's interview came a month before CNN released exclusively obtained CCTV footage of Sean Combs physically assaulting his then-girlfriend Cassie Ventura in the hallway of the now defunct InterContinental Hotel in LA.

The video, dated March 5, 2016, graphically showed the rapper kicking, dragging and throwing things at Ventura. Following the video's release, Combs issued a public apology on social media, saying that his behavior was inexcusable.

Ventura detailed the assault captured in the video in her November 2023 lawsuit against the rapper for r*pe and a decadelong pattern of abuse. Combs and Ventura settled the case out of court the day after it was filed. The terms of the settlement are undisclosed at the time of this article.

On March 25, 2024, the Department of Homeland Security raided Sean Combs' LA and Miami mansions in connection to his s*x trafficking allegations.
