Frequent collaborators, Young Nudy and Pi'erre Bourne have reportedly teamed up once again. The trap duo will be releasing the sequel to their 2019 mixtape Sli'merre, which hosted features from 21 Savage, DaBaby, Lil Uzi Vert, and Megan Thee Stallion.
The new project was announced via online news media outlet NFR Podcast on Thursday, September 5, 2024. The podcast took to X to reveal that the upcoming collaboration is scheduled to be released this October.
NFR's tweet included a screenshot of Young Nudy's Instagram story while the caption simply had the name of the artists, the album, and its month of release. Looking back at Young Nudy and Pi'erre Bourne's 2019 mixtape 'Sli'merre'
Rapper Young Nudy and producer Pi'erre Bourne released their debut collaboration mixtape titled Sli'merre on May 8, 2019. The mixtape was distributed to all major streaming platforms via RCA Records.
It was extremely well received, making its way onto Billboard 200 and peaking at No. 63 on the magazine's album charts. Critically, the project was praised for Pi'erre's signature trap production that he had curated since the release of Playboi Carti's Magnolia in 2017.
Several magazines gave positive reviews to Sli'merre, with Pitchfork rating the mixtape "8.0/10." The review drew comparisons between the artists' collaboration and the NBA photo from the December 2010 Miami Heats vs. Milwaukee Bucks game. During the game, Dwayne Wade set up a perfect dunk for LeBron James.
"On one of the best rapper/producer collaborations of the year, the Atlanta MC remains a perfect fit for Pi’erre Bourne’s weird and heavy beats." - Pitchfork stated in their 'Sli'merre' review.
The mixtape has a complete runtime of 39 minutes and hosts four guest appearances over a 12-record tracklist. The name of Sli'merre is derived from a portmanteau of "Slime," referencing Young Nudy's discography and "Pi'erre".
Nudy and Pi'erre supported the album's rollout by releasing two singles before the project's release. The first single dropped titled Mister, in April 2019 and featured a guest appearance from 21 Savage. The American Dream rapper, who is also Young Nudy's cousin, had previously collaborated with him on tracks like 2018's Since When and 2016's I'm A Savage.
"Mister Slaughter Gang (Gang gang) / Mister Take Your Ho (Yeah) / Mister Run a Train (Straight up) / Mister F--k a Rapper, n---a, I'm Deebo, tuck your chain (On God) / Got amnesia, f--k yo' cigarette, I don't remember a thing (Straight up)" - 21 Savage raps on 'Mister'
The duo dropped the second collaboration, featuring Lil Uzi Vert on a track titled Extendo, on May 1, 2019. This single marked the first collaboration between Nudy and Vert.
However, Pi’erre Bourne has previously worked with the Eternal Atake rapper, as well as several other artists from the SoundCloud generation, including Trippie Redd, Playboi Carti, and Lil Yachty.
"Extendo, yeah, extendo, yeah / Play with n---a, you pretendo, yeah / I'ma play you like Nintendo, yeah / Extendo, yeah, extendo, yeah / Yeah I gotta keep extendo, yeah / 30 round, that's extendo, yeah / Everybody got extendos, yeah" - Young Nudy's hook on 'Extendo'
Nudy's ability to perfectly integrate himself into the sonic landscapes of Pi'erre's production is what primarily stands out while listening to the mixtape. On tracks like Sunflower Seeds, the rapper's performance seemingly blends into the production of the melodic trap record.
As of now, the official release date for the Nudy x Bourne sequel is yet to be revealed, with the official tracklist and potential feature list also under wraps. However, Sli'merre 2 is expected to be released before the year ends.
