Snoop Dogg has fans impressed after he was seen cheering and celebrating Team USA’s first Gold Medal win at the Paris Olympics. The rapper was attending the swimming segment of the 2024 Olympics on Saturday, July 27, when he celebrated on camera.
Snoop was in the stands along with Caeleb Dressel's wife and baby, as Dressel participated in the swimming competition for the men's 4x100 freestyle relay. Dressel's team comprised Chris Giuliano, Jack Alexy, and Hunter Armstrong. The quartet secured the gold with the time of 3:09:28.
The rapper and Dressel's wife continuously cheered for the team and shared a high-five soon after the gold seemed guaranteed. Sharing a video of the sweet moment, a user commented,
“Now, that’s joy.”
The rapper's fans praised him for his good qualities as they commented,
"How can anyone not love Snoop. Music icon and ambassador and philanthropist for sports." said one fan.
"Just when you thought you really love Snoop, he ups the ante! 🩷🩷🩷🩷," added another user.
The video didn't seem to have impressed everyone, as some users critiqued Snoop Dogg for wearing the controversial Baphomet necklace.
"Is he wearing his baphomet necklace or did he take it off? Oh, no! Looks like it is still on!" said a user.
"Is he still wearing his satanic Baphomet necklace?" questioned another.
Another user questioned Snoop's glorification by the media, considering some of his old controversial raps, as they commented,
"Why is the media glorifying Snoop Dog. He made millions of dollars degrading women in his raps. Did you forget?"
A user took a stand against the negative comments against Snoop Dogg as they commented,
"The amount of people complaining about Snoop is hilarious. Ya'll really just be hating everything these days. It's sad." said the user.
Snoop Dogg is actively present at the Paris Olympics 2024
The men's 4x100 freestyle relay was not the first time Snoop Dogg appeared at the Paris Olympics 2024. The rapper first joined the Olympics opening ceremony on Friday, July 26, and helped carry the Olympic torch through Saint Dennis Street.
Speaking to AP News earlier this week, Snoop shared how he felt about getting the prestigious opportunity to carry the Olympic torch,
"I look at this as a prestigious honor and something I truly respect. I would have never dreamed of nothing like this."
Sharing how he planned to carry the torch, Snoop Dogg added,
"I’m going to be on my best behavior. I’m going to be on my best athleticism. I’ll be able to breathe slow to walk fast and hold the torch with a smile on my face, because I realize how prestigious this event is."
The next day, on July 27, Snoop donned a hooded white jacket and witnessed Team USA winning the first 2024 Paris Olympic gold medal in the swimming competition.
The US team was up against Australia, which secured a silver medal with 3:10.25 timing. The third-runner up for the competition was Italy, which beat China with a timing of 3:10.70 and secured a bronze medal.
Snoop Dogg has also been roped in as NBC's special correspondent for the Paris Olympics 2024. He will appear through the Primetime coverage of the 2024 Olympics. The rapper is responsible for talking to the families of the Team US athletes and sharing their stories with the audience.
