American comedian Karlous Miller recently made an appearance at the Club Shay Shay podcast wherein he talked about Drake being too easy to hate on. In a snippet of his interview posted on the podcast's Instagram account on November 12, 2024, Karlous Miller was seen commenting on Drizzy and comparing him to Kendrick Lamar.
Miller told host Shannon Sharpe:
“Kendrick put his momma van on his album cover. He struggled for real. ... Drake ain’t have no struggle in his life. He was doing good in Canada, dancing with his White friends, Jewish uncle, they having Bar Mitzvahs, good investments, you feel me, his momma family got that check.”
Netizens were quick to react to Karlous Miller's comment on the One Dance rapper and took to X to express their opinions on the same. Dismissing Miller's perspective on Drizzy and his struggles, a user tweeted:
"Obviously he didn’t listen to any Drake music. Drake told you what his struggles were. I guess since it’s not something you can identify with, it’s easy to invalidate."
"Does he know Drake personally?" an X user questioned
"The Drake hate is getting a little carried away now. That man is one of the GOATs," another X user mentioned
"And growing up struggling in poverty is better because …. ???" an internet user said
Internet users also called our Karlous Miller for assuming that Drizzy hadn't struggled:
"This antisemitism, y’all are assuming he grew up rich not because of anything that he or family told you, but because he’s Jewish. imagine if we all judged each other by the color of their skin idk tho," an X user tweeted
"That’s funny. His mom was a public school teacher. Degrassi made him 50000 before CANADIAN tax which end up being 36000. She got sick when he was 15 and he became the breadwinner. Dropped off high school. And after Degrassi while trying to become a rapper worked in a restaurant…" another X user commented referring to Drizzy's journey.
"You can't win with the internet"—Karlous Miller talks about getting hate for criticizing Kai Cenat's Jail skit
Apart from comparing Drake's struggles to that of Kendrick Lamar, Karlous Miller also spoke about the time he was canceled for criticizing Kai Cenat's jail skit. For the unversed, Kai Cenat started a seven-day-long live stream on Twitch from a fictionalized prison in 2023 and Miller took to X on October 30, 2024, to comment on the same stating:
“N—s did a livestream in a fake jail? Why the f—k would anybody wanna do some s### like that?”
Miller ended up getting a lot of flak for his remark on Kai Cenat's jail skit and his tweet on the same currently has 10.2 million views. Addressing the hate he got from netizens, Karlous Miller told Shannon Sharpe:
"What about all them other tweets where I was showing love? I just was like bro why you in jail? But then they was like you did a skit in jail... whatever bro, you can't win with the internet."
Miller added that he now makes it a point to get on social media platforms to express his opinion and "piss" people off. He also said that he's not trying to be politically correct.
In the Club Shay Shay podcast episode uploaded on November 6, 2024, Karlous Miller commented on how he saw Drake and Kendrick Lamar's feud happening. He mentioned that he saw it coming because "this is competition".
