Phil Lesh accumulated a lot of wealth from his work in the music industry: Earnings and other details explained
The Berkeley, California native was able to build a huge fanbase with his flawless skills as a musician. While he became a popular face at one point, it helped him to earn a lot of wealth, and was the owner of a luxurious property a long time ago.
According to CelebrityNetWorth, he was residing at a house in Ross in 2002, priced at $9.35 million. He eventually sold it for $9.925 million in 2016.
A majority of Phil Lesh’s income was a result of his musical career. As mentioned, he was the founding member of the Grateful Dead, which had 13 albums in their credits. Most of them managed to reach on top of the Billboard charts.
The group’s first major project was their self-titled debut album, which came out in 1967. It had six singles in the soundtrack and was released through Warner Records Inc.
The band later established their self-named record label, which could not exist for a long time after the group started facing issues in handling the entire business. They eventually joined a company called Arista Records and continued bringing more successful projects.
In an interview with FuseVisual in July 2017, Phil Lesh opened up on his songwriting experience, referring to his collaboration with Robert Hunter, a lyric writer for his band, and said:
“I was recently writing some material, about five or six songs of material, over the last year and some of the songs I’ve written the lyrics myself and I’ve been very pleased with the way those lyrics turned out.”
He also stated that performing and creating music was like a skill for him, adding that it was impossible to become a master of any skill. He considered skills powerful and important for everyone.
Although Grateful Dead separated in 1995, Phil Lesh started getting involved in other activities, including some philanthropic work. He formed an organization called Unbroken Chain Foundation with his wife Jill. He even continued performing at different concerts.
Apart from Jill, his survivors include his children Brian and Grahame.
