American entrepreneur Dame Dash recently appeared in an interview with America Nu Network on September 16, 2024, where he mentioned that Drake reached out to him via DM wanting to buy 1/3rd of Jay-Z's Reasonable Doubt and made an offer stating he's not sure what happened next.
Talking about the same, Dame stated:
"You know Drake hollered at me through DM and made an offer, and I'm not quite sure what happened, but I thought that he had got with Jay or something."
Netizens were quick to express their opinion on Dame Dash's claims and took to X (formerly Twitter) to comment on the same. Asking for proof, one of the internet users tweeted:
"Post the DM or we don't believe you. It's cap. 🧢"
Some other reactions from netizens were as follows:
"He not fooling me, this is an advertisement for the album cuz nobody wanna buy it 😂 tryna bait him with the "I'd come show up with a rocfella chain on," another X user commented.
"Have a hard time believing Drake would Dm with something like that," an internet user mentioned.
"This allegedly happening via DM is comedy 😭" another internet user joked
Additionally, some netizens also expressed their doubts over Dame's claims:
"NO ONE IS BUYING AN ASSEST WITHOUT A VALUATION!" an X user tweeted
"Now I understand why Hov doesn’t give this guy too much attention" another X user mentioned
"You get one of these, this is legit.": Dame Dash announces giving a Roc-A-Fella chain to whoever buys his share in the record label
A few days before Dame Dash's shares in Roc-A-Fella were about to be auctioned off via the U.S. Marshalls on August 29, 2024, Dame took to Instagram on August 19, 2024, to address fans.
Giving fans and internet users a deal in exchange for his shares in the record label, Dame Dash stated that if anyone buys one-third of Roc-A-Fella Inc. they'd have to "bring some bread and anything over 10 million" and that the entrepreneur would sweeten the deal for them. Offering a Roc-A-Fella chain that he wears, Dame mentioned:
"You get an original Roc-A-Fella chain from off my neck. ’Cause I was the only one that gave out Roc-A-Fella chains when Roc-A-Fella really existed. If I don't give you the chain it's not a legit Roc-A-Fella chain. You get one of these, this is legit. This is the old-school one from off my neck. You know like when I took one off my neck and gave one to Kanye, Cam'ron, all that."
However, according to Rolling Stone's Andre Gee's investigative piece dated April 9, 2024, Dame isn't the rightful owner of a stake in Jay-Z's Reasonable Doubt. As per excerpts of the report mentioned on Uproxx, Dame cannot sell his stakes or rather cannot act as a deciding factor in the process.
The publication reported the news of Dame having to give up his stake in Roc-A-Fella was true owing to the requirement to satisfy the $823 judgment in the Josh Webber and Muddy Waters Films lawsuit.
While Dame was required to turn over his shares to the US Marshals, the shares were allegedly controlled by Dame's attorney Christopher Brown who complied with the judgment on his client's behalf.
In other news, Jay-Z's attorneys notified the courts that his album Reasonable Doubt would come under the rapper's ownership in 2031. This means that the buyer of Dame Dash's Roc-A-Fella shares would own Jay-Z's album for seven years before it passed on to Hov, given the copyrights of the album were set to rest with Jay-Z 35 years after the album was released.
