With a fresh project announcement from Post Malone, alongside his Morgan Wallen collaboration I Had Some Help making waves for occupying the No. 1 spot on Billboard's Hot 100 chart consecutively for the past five weeks, the songwriter appears to be geared up for a successful Summer 2024 run.

Breaking down Post Malone and Morgan Wallen's No.1 country pop single I Had Some Help

Post Malone and Morgan Wallen effortlessly deliver one of the biggest hits of the year with I Had Some Help. From dethroning Kendrick Lamar's Not Like Us to spending the last 5 weeks on top of Billboard's Hot 100 charts, the single's success reflects the growing popularity of country-infused pop music.

The track primarily revolves around themes of relationships and love, with Post and Wallen spending dedicated verses expressing the various conflicts they deal with. Post Malone introduces the song with his first verse, which reads:

"You got a lotta nerve, don't you, baby? I only hit the curb 'cause you made me / You're tellin' all your friends that I'm crazy / Like I'm the only one / Why'd you throw them stones if you / Had a wild hair of your own or two? Livin' in your big glass house with a view / I thought you knew."

This verse sets up the theme and vibe for the track, with Malone's vocal performances blending into the bouncy composition of the track, credited to producers Charlie Handsome, Hoskins, and Louis Bell.

Listeners are then drawn into the track with a hook that tells the story of a toxic relationship. Each line adds a new layer to a relationship that didn't work out, highlighting the aspects of both parties that played a major role in why they broke up.

"I had some help / It ain't like I can make this kinda mess all by myself / Don't act like you ain't help me pull that bottle off the shelf / Been deep in every weekend if you couldn't tell / They say, Teamwork makes the dream work / Hell, I had some help (Help)" - The Hook on 'I Had Some Help.'

The instrumental takes over before listeners are introduced to Morgan Wallen's verse on the track, where the 31-year-old country singer takes the "toxic relationship" narrative deeper with lines that highlight his partner as not being as "innocent" as they portray to the world.

"You thought I'd take the blame for us a-crumbling / Go 'round like you ain't guilty of somethin' / Already lost the game that you been runnin' / Guess it's catchin' up to you, huh / You think that you're so innocent / After all the s--t you did / I ain't an angel, you ain't heaven-sent / Can't wash our hands of this."

Morgan then delivers the energetic chorus, creating the perfect crescendo for I Had Some Help. Both singers go back and forth over the hook one more time before closing out the song.
