A conspiracy theory doing the rounds on the internet suggests Kanye West saved Taylor Swift from Beyonce's wrath by infamously interrupting her speech during the 2009 VMAs. The theories arose after Beyonce's alleged connection with Sean Diddy Combs came to light.
In 2009, Kanye West interrupted Taylor Swift's speech during the VMA Awards while she was thanking the audience after winning an award for Best Female Video. Kanye claimed that Beyonce deserved the award instead for having one of the best videos ever. The incident took place while Beyonce was in attendance in the audience.
According to some TikTok users, West's interruption was intended to protect Swift from being involved with Diddy. Ye was allegedly trying to create a rift between Beyonce and Swift, as the former had close ties with Diddy at that time.
Many TikTok users believe West knew about Diddy's alleged intentions of preying on younger artists and wanted to keep Taylor Swift away from him and Beyonce's influence. One X user attempted to explain the conspiracy theory and wrote:
"This diddy thing is making ppl go insane. The conspiracy theories got me dead 😂 they saying Beyoncé was gonna kill Taylor swift so Kanye saved her when he interrupted Taylor on stage 💀 but hey, I’ve never seen so many positive Kanye comments in a while so a win is a win 😂🤝🏾"
As per Tribune, the conspiracy theory also tries to connect Kanye West's 2016 music video, Famous, which featured a bed and a Taylor Swift look-alike. As per the theory, it was a reference to Diddy's alleged misconduct and abusive behavior.
However, none of these conspiracy theories can be proven, and there is no factual basis for them. It is widely believed that Ye interrupted Swift's speech only because he was of the opinion that Beyonce deserved the award at the 2009 VMAs. The incident's connection with Diddy is speculative and fan-made.
Video of Kanye West calling out Sean Diddy Combs resurfaced online amid the latter's legal woes
An old video of Kanye West calling out Sean Diddy Combs has resurfaced on the internet amid the Bad Boy Records founder's legal woes. Combs was arrested in New York on September 16 on three criminal counts, including racketeering conspiracy; s*x trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion; and transportation to engage in prostitution.
West's video was originally a part of the Drink Champs podcast, but the segment was later removed. The clip dates back to October 2022, where Ye is seen discussing an alleged deal certain celebrities make to avoid serving prison time. The rapper called Diddy a "fed" in the video.
Kanye West referred to Diddy by his former name, Puff Daddy, and said:
"The reason why you gotta talk is because you did a deal, you fu**ing fed! That's why you've gotta come at me, because part of the deal for you to be able to do all that and get out of jail is that you promised that you are gonna go pull my card."
Kanye West's full interview was removed from online platforms due to his anti-semitic comments and alleged insensitive remarks about the death of George Floyd. However, the segment where he spoke about Diddy resurfaced after the hip-hop mogul was arrested this month.
Sean Diddy Combs is currently held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. The rapper's attorneys have appealed for bail, but their pleas were rejected by judges twice, who intended for Diddy to be in custody until his trial.
