Ice Spice’s former best friend and singer Baby Storme appeared on TikTok Live on August 12 and attempted to justify her social media outbursts, including leaking the messages she shared with the Bronx rapper earlier this year. She explained that she was going through a mental health crisis, seemingly triggered by her pregnancy, smoking, and unresolved traumas.
“I’m really sorry I ignored that, but the thing is, I really didn’t think I had a problem. Like, I’m not even joking. I really didn’t even know until like yesterday… I was in such a trance that I really just did not genuinely think that anything was wrong with me,” Baby Storme claimed.
The Jackson songstress confessed that it really “bothered” her when people advised her to seek “help” as she was unaware of her mental health issues and shared that she was not “crazy” but was going through a bad “episode.”
She wrapped up by saying how she was going to “pretend” like “it never happened” and refocus on her music.
However, in the wake of Baby Storme’s clarification, fans of Ice Spice are continuing to call her out. For instance, Instagram user @_rashamel commented under The Neighborhood Talk’s repost of the now-viral video. They alleged that Baby Storme was responsible for trying to damage Ice Spice's career and even influenced the commercial failure of the latter’s debut studio album Y2K!, which dropped late last month.
“No baby you was jealous exposed homegirl and ruined that career, she the reason the album flopped,” the user wrote.
Several others joined the conversation and slammed Baby Storme for her justification. Nerizens held her accountable for attempting to “ruin” Ice Spice's career.
“Did everything but apologize to Ice,” a person wrote.
“The LIES. Probably wants to get in good graces with Ice, since releasing the text didn’t help her music career,” one person wrote.
“Man f*ck mental health, she [is] a liar. She just wanted to ruin her friend's momentum. She does music too. Probably jealous Ice’s career took off and wanted to bring her down to her level because she’s miserable! Let this be a lesson. When you elevate, cut off everyone who ain’t,” another person wrote.
Others claimed that Baby Storme was trying to clear the air about her past actions as her own career was not on track.
“She probably tryna clean up bc now nobody wanna work with her smh,” a netizen wrote.
“The music didn't pop off like how she thought it was and well...” another netizen wrote.
Meanwhile, few empathized with Baby Storme and offered her support.
“Well yes. Histeria and Psychosis are real things that happen to people. I feel bad for her and I’m happy she’s broken out of her psychosis,” an individual wrote.
“Ahhhh when you put it that way it makes sense. I need to look more into this to make an informed decision. Thank you for sharing!” another individual wrote.
Exploring Baby Storme’s latest clarification on her social media outburst about Ice Spice
On Monday night, Baby Storme appeared on her social media and posted a clarification about her online outbursts over the months. She began by saying how “embarrassed” she was and acknowledged that a lot of her fans were “right” to have pointed out that she was going through a “mental episode.”
“It’s so strange because I never had this problem and I did not know where it came from or why I would just start to like have a mental problem out of nowhere. But this happened a few months ago, really early into my pregnancy,” the Painkillers singer stated.
She explained that after she found out that she was expecting, she did not sleep for over a week, which further worsened her condition. Baby Storme mentioned that this was the time she posted “the video about Trump and all that other stuff.”
“I suffer from a lot of deep traumas that nobody knows about, um, I’ve told you guys about some of it, but most of it nobody knows about,” the 24-year-old added.
Baby Storme claimed that she didn’t know she was suffering from a problem until “yesterday” as she had so much going on in her life. The Alt Disco maker also shared that she was doing everything to get “treated” because she has a child on the way and did not want to “deal” with any kind of mental health issues once she became a mother.
“I just wanna say that I’m much better now, I’m getting treatment, I’m totally fine, and I appreciate people who really care about me, like not just the people who are making fun of me, which there are a lot of, still lot of, but my actual supporters,” Storme concluded.
For those uninitiated, in May 2024, Baby Storme took to X and shared several text messages exchanged with her “ex-best friend” Ice Spice. In one, she accused her of bullying her in school when they were teenagers, while in another she tried to “expose” the In Ha Mood rapper.
In a follow-up tweet, she even shared their DMs where Ice Spice called hip-hop icon Nicki Minaj “ungrateful and delusional,” which further escalated the online backlash against Baby Storme.
The Maniac singer even addressed Ice Spice’s beef with Latto, calling her “jealous,” and alleged that Ice Spice collaborated with Minaj to trigger the feud with Mulatto. Elsewhere Baby Storme also claimed that her former friend cheated on Lil Tjay with RIOTUSA among other explosive allegations.
