On September 10, 2024, Taylor Swift took to Instagram to endorse Kamala Harris and signed off on the same, calling herself a "childless cat lady." Swift's comment was apparently a dig at remarks made by Trump's running mate, JD Vance, about women without children.
The next day, Elon Musk responded to Swift and tweeted that he would give the singer a child and guard her cats. While Elon Musk was criticized by Swifties (the singer's fans), American rapper and singer Azealia Banks also expressed her discontent with Musk's comment on Swift. In her tweet dated September 12, 2024, Banks advised Swift to sue Musk and "take" his money.
Azealia Banks' response to Elon Musk garnered much praise from internet users. For instance, one person called Azealia a defender of Taylor Swift and said:
"She’s our #1 taydefender actually"
Similar reactions followed, with some people calling Banks a "Taywarrior."
"you know you are weird when even azealia says it," another X user mentioned.
"Reputation TV featuring Azealia," an internet user referred to Swift's song.
"Azealia still rightfully dragging him after all these years," another internet user stated.
"Azealia Banks is a Taywarrior… we love to see it," an X user complimented Banks combining the words Taylor and warrior.
Internet users also complimented Azealia for taking a stand for Swift:
"Oh Azealia clock him again for me," an X user tweeted.
"She mothered a bit," another X user tweeted.
"Register to vote for something else that is important"— Taylor Swift encourages fans to vote at MTV VMAs
On September 12, 2024, Taylor Swift won big at the 2024 MTV VMAs — Video of the Year for Fortnight and Artist of the Year. In her acceptance speech, she urged fans to vote in the 2024 Presidential elections and referred to the VMAs as a fan-voted award.
"“If you’re over 18, please register to vote for something else that is important — the Presidential election,” she said.
Additionally, her acceptance speech for winning Video of the Year for Fortnight garnered a lot of appreciation, given that she took the opportunity to compliment her beau, Travis Kelce. The singer mentioned that while the song's video seems sad, it was "actually the most fun video to make."
Recalling the video shoot of Fortnight, Taylor Swift said she'll always remember when she would finish a take and say 'cut,' and when she'd be done with the take, she would hear someone cheering from across the studio.
"That one person was my boyfriend, Travis. Everything this man touches turns to happiness and fun and magic so I want to thank him for adding that to our shoot, because I'll always remember that," she said.
Taylor Swift recently endorsed Kamala Harris in an Instagram post, saying that she's voting for Harris because "she fights for the rights and causes" that Swift believes in. The singer also called Harris a "steady-handed, gifted leader."
