"She's a survivor and a true artist" — Billy Ray Cyrus shares heartfelt message about daughter Miley Cyrus

Billy Ray Cyrus, the American country singer and songwriter recently opened up about some of his “best memories” with his daughter, Miley Cyrus while sharing a throwback photo of them.

On Friday, June 7, 2024, the 62-year-old posted a picture of holding young Miley on Instagram. It also included a poem he wrote at the annual summer music, CMA Fest, from when it was known as Fan Fair. He praised his daughter and wrote in the caption:

"I’m incredibly proud of her. She's a survivor and a true artist. She learned early on to love and appreciate the fans who make everything possible.

He further continued talking about their connection with the fans and expressed gratitude for their support.

We both cherish the connection we have with our fans and are grateful for every single one of you! Hope you all have a great Friday! Now rock the country!!!"

Billy Ray Cyrus' family explored

Billy Ray Cyrus and Tish Cyrus tied the knot on December 28, 1993, and he adopted her two children, Brandi, 37, and Trace, 35. The couple also share three more children Miley, 31, Braison, 30, and Noah, 24 from their almost 30-year marriage.

The couple eventually broke up as Tish filed for divorce from Billy Ray Cyrus in April 2022. On Friday, he shared a framed photo of him and young Miley on Instagram, with two handwritten pages. He wrote in the caption:

"One of my best memories ever: @cma Fest, back when it was Fan Fair. That's @mileycyrus and me, surrounded by thousands of incredible fans at the fairgrounds. The next day, someone handed me this picture, and I wrote that poem right then on the bus."

There have been rumors about Billy Ray Cyrus's relationship with Miley allegedly appearing to grow estranged. In 2022, Tish cited "irreconcilable differences” as the cause of their separation and the court documents stated that they had not lived together for over two years. The couple shared a joint statement with People in April 2022, via a family representative. They said:

"It is after 30 years, five amazing children and a lifetime of memories, we have decided to go our separate ways — not with sadness, but with love in our hearts. We have grown up together, raised a family we can be so proud of, and it is now time to create our own paths."

Billy Ray Cyrus got engaged to singer Firerose in the fall of 2022 and married her on October 10, 2024. The couple first met on the set of the hit Disney sitcom, Hannah Montana.

The country singer told People, at the time that "there's no hard feelings" between him and Tish about his decision to move on. He shared that everyone was turning a new page and said:

"Everyone knew that that relationship was over a long time ago."

In August 2023, Tish Cyrus also re-married in a small Malibu ceremony with husband and Prison Break star Dominic Purcell. Her son Trace and her daughters Brandi and Miley were at the wedding and part of the nuptials. The two daughters served as bridesmaids, however, Tish and Billy Ray Cyrus's two youngest children, Noah and Braison, were not present on the big day.

Billy Ray Cyrus also shares a son named Christopher Cody, with Kristen Luckey. The pair dated before he met Tish Cyrus. Meanwhile, Miley Cyrus has been dating Maxx Morando for almost two years. They first sparked dating rumors in November 2021.
