On August 24, 2024, rapper GloRilla took to Instagram to share an unreleased song with her fans wherein the lyrics stated: "Me and my b*tch r******d.” As per the Special Olympics, the word r******d, also known as the R-word, is a form of hate speech that can be offensive to people with intellectual disabilities and their loved ones.

However, on August 26, 2024, the Tomorrow 2 rapper posted a video on X (formerly Twitter) wherein she changed the R-word, and the same was posted by The Neighborhood Talk page on Instagram.

"I was going back to my roots"— GloRilla comments on songs in TGIF album

During her appearance at The Angie Martinez Show on April 6, 2024, GloRilla commented on the thought process behind the TGIF album. Calling the songs "raw", Glo told Angie:

"I was going back to my roots. I rebranded on it because last year I was just trying to go so big when I was in album mode. So I went back to the roots with my mixtape instead of putting out an album so I'm like I'mma give em some raw gangsta music before I put my album out because I feel like I waited too long to drop last year so I went a whole year without a project."

The rapper also ddressed why she doesn't make songs specifically for the clubbing scene even though some of her tracks are played in nightclubs. She mentioned in the interview that making such songs isn't her agenda because "people make it twerk music".

The Blessed rapper talked about her relationship status stating that she is the most single she's ever been in life. She said that one does get lonely and that is the bad part about being single. GloRilla mentioned:

"You be wanting to have somebody to talk to, but I think single people should appreciate being single because it's less heartache."

GloRilla has been making headlines since the release of her album TGIF on June 21, 2024. Additionally, the American rapper also joined Megan Thee Stallion on the Hot Girl Summer tour which began in Minneapolis on May 14, 2024.

The duo toured locations like Detroit, Baltimore, Chicago, Atlanta, Tampa, Denver, Dublin, and London, among others.
