"She want a Eve moment huh?" — Netizens react to Trina recalling Nicki Minaj telling her she respected her when they met

On October 14, 2024, X account Female Rap Room shared rapper Trina's account of meeting Nicki Minaj for the first time. Recalling the encounter after Lil Wayne signed her to record label Young Money, Trina stated:

"She was extremely humble when we met and told me how much respect she had for me. From that moment on, I was rooting for her.”

The encounter is mentioned in Trina and Sesali Bowen's book Da Baddest, published on October 8, 2024. Although Trina and Nicki Minaj collaborated on BAPS in 2019, rumors of a feud between the two started circulating in 2023.

Internet users were quick to react to Trina's story about meeting Minaj, expressing their opinions on X. Referring to the rapper's Verzuz battle against Eve in June 2021, which Trina won, an X user tweeted:

After Trina called Beyonce the number one female rapper in 2023, speculations arose regarding why she didn't mention Minaj's name. However, Trina recently complimented Nicki Minaj in her book Da Baddest.

In her account of meeting the Tusa rapper for the first time, Trina mentioned:

"She was super creative and ready to go to the top from day one. She was the complete opposite of me when I came into the industry, just going with the flow and figuring it out as I went."

Commenting on how Minaj was in her "mixtape era" when they met, Trina said:

"She had the streets going crazy. Her flow was nasty, and she used it to rap circles around so many of her male peers. She gave women, especially younger female fans, something to look forward to in hip-hop, and they latched right onto her."

During an Instagram Live in 2019, while promoting their collaboration BAPS, Trina addressed rumors of a feud with Minaj. She said that there won't be any disrespect for Nicki Minaj or any other artist on her album.

However, Nicki Minaj commented on the rumors in a 2019 interview with Queen Radio. She mentioned that members of Trina's team expressed frustration with her for not promoting their collaborative album to their standards.

Trina's team also expressed discontent over Minaj not working with them to film visuals for the track despite doing the same for Megan Thee Stallion's Hot Girl Summer. Minaj said that she shows the same love to everybody anytime she collaborates on a song, and she appreciates being a part of their record.

Minaj elaborated:

"But, for [Trina’s] team or anybody’s team to feel like I owe you anything or to go out and disrespect me because I’m showing love to another female and you’re not gonna check them, that’s not cool."
