Snoop Dogg officially expanded into the legal marijuana industry this Sunday, July 14, as he opened his first licensed dispensary, 'S.W.E.D. A Snoop Dogg Store.' The store's name professes Snoop's love and appreciation for marijuana and goes by the acronym 'Smoke Weed Every Day.'

The store's grand opening was accompanied by the launch of limited-edition cannabis products honoring the late Tupac Shakur. The collaboration of the two artists comes forward in the form of five limited-edition cannabis strains that shoppers can now get at the store as Alien OG and jarred cannabis flowers.

Customers buying any of the five limited-edition 2Pac products will receive a collectible photo of the late rapper, and a recreated Death Row Records matchbook. The four photos that are up for grabs feature Tupac standing in front of a DRR graffiti wall.

Shoppers can also find a wide selection of other marijuana products like concentrates, pre-rolls, flowers, novel strains, and more at the store. It is located at 5494 W Centinela Ave, Los Angeles, California, 90045.

The friendship between Snoop Dogg and Tupac Shakur goes long back and sparked after sharing a blunt. Snoop reminisced about his days with the late rapper in 2017 as he spoke at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony for Tupac:

“That first blunt sparked a friendship that ran deep. We’ll always have his music, but this is another way I can bring what was meaningful to 2Pac to his fans.”

Disclaimer: The purchase, possession, and consumption of marijuana in California is strictly restricted to individuals aged 21 or above.

Snoop Dogg's S.W.E.D. dispensary store and the rapper's love for marijuana

The S.W.E.D. dispensary store comes over a year after Snoop Dogg set up the Death Row Records Cannabis brand in January 2023. The brand aims to bring DRR to its former glory and to support hip-hop, hip-hop artists, and the marijuana culture.

Complimenting Snoop's ambitions, the Los Angeles store offers fans a glimpse into the Death Row Records history with memorabilia, posters, and artifacts. From the DRR electric chair to original album-arts from Snoop Dogg's debut album, Dogg*st*le, the store may seem like a haven for hip-hop fans.

Adding to the excitement of the grand opening on Sunday, Snoop appeared at the store himself and played some songs for fans as he took over the store's DJ station. The rapper was accompanied by his father and had photo ops with fans visiting the store.

It is not the first time Snoop Dogg dipped his feet into the marijuana industry. Back in 2015, the rapper launched his first marijuana brand, Leafs by Snoop, in Denver. The Colorado business also distributes its products into Canada through the Canopy Growth Corporation.

Snoop Dogg has also been vocal about marijuana reforms and the relaxation of laws regarding the usage of recreational drugs. In November 2022, he urged Arkansas to vote for 'Ballot Issue 4,' which could legalize marijuana usage for adults even without a medical waiver card.

The rapper also praised the NBA in April 2023 when the league cleared marijuana from the list of substances banned for players. At that time, he professed the medicinal benefits of the recreational drug and how it could help the players heal better than prescription opioids.

The Los Angeles Magazine reports that Snoop is currently working to set up a S.W.E.D. coffee shop in Amsterdam. While the rapper has not revealed much about what he has planned for the store, it is speculated to open next month.
