On September 2, 2024, American podcaster DJ Akademiks tweeted a comparison of Drake and Kendrick Lamar's Spotify bios. Kendrick Lamar's Spotify bio mentioned that his track Meet The Grahams accused Drizzy of being a pedophile while the One Dance rapper's Spotify bio mentioned Drizzy's songs by highlighting Kendrick Lamar's name. For instance one of the lines in Drizzy's bio on the streaming platform stated;
"Drake's "Family Matters" appeared in May, hitting number six on the Hot 100. It was promptly followed by Lamar's Alchemist-produced "Meet the Grahams" and party-ready "Not Like Us."
The Akademiks TV account tweeted the comparison between the two rappers' Spotify bios claiming that Lamar's bio on the streaming platform,
"defames Drake and falsely accuses him of being a pedophile".
Fans of the Passionfruit rapper were quick to respond to the same via X to express their opinion. One of the fans claimed:
"It’s annoying, Spotify is clearly going against Drake."
"Drake should leave Spotify", an X user stated.
"Because the bio gives details of Kendrick Lamar’s songs.. but gives 0 details on Drakes songs .. showing favoritism towards Kendrick.. making sure that people see the word pedophile", another X user highlighted.
"this is sickening, Spotify should rectify this immediately", an internet user mentioned.
"Spotify shouldn’t have a dog in the fight but here we are 🥴" ,another internet user stated.
"Lol! They dont mention the wife beating but mentioned pdf", one of Drizzy's fans referred to the rapper, accusing Lamar of domestic abuse in his track Family Matters.
An internet user also suggested that Kendrick's Spotify bio stated the allegations which he levied against Drizzy and so, it wasn't defamatory:
"I want you to read the sentence again…slowly. it says “Kendrick ACCUSED Drake of being a pedophile” It does not say “Drake is a pedophile” It is 100% true that Kendrick accused Drake of being a pedophile. This Spotify bio is not defamation"
Drake seemingly alleges Spotify of certifying fake streams of Kendrick Lamar's Not Like Us
Drake and Kendrick Lamar's feud led to one of the most popular rap battles in hip-hop culture. The two rappers made multiple diss tracks on one another, wherein Kendrick Lamar also released the music video of Not Like Us as a victory lap.
According to Hot New Hip Hop, Drizzy apparently took to the comment section on Trainwrecktv's Kick stream on June 29, 2024, and stated:
"hey pragmatic can we take it back to 2022... can you backdoor Eddie like Spotify backdoored the streams for that one song from that one guy."
Drizzy's fans assumed that the rapper is referring to Lamar's Not Like Us in addition to which the God's Plan rapper's fans also accused the use of bots to push fake streams. These accusations were contended by internet users who showcased that Kendrick Lamar's track is number one on Apple Music and that the platform doesn't allow the use of bots.
Moreover, on June 18, 2024, Drizzy became the first artist in the music industry to achieve 100 billion streams on Spotify. Drizzy's achievement on the streaming platform comprises all credits including songs wherein he is a lead artist as well as a featured artist.
In other news, Drizzy released six new songs in total recently wherein he dropped three via 100 Gigs for your Headtop and the other three via his alleged burner Instagram account @plottttwistttttt.
