Lil Wayne's son Lil Novi opened up about the importance of his father's rap career and the internet had a lot to say. In an interview with TRSH published on YouTube on Friday, November 29, the 15-year-old was asked how it felt when he heard people talking about his father as one of the "greatest rappers of all time" and if he agreed with the sentiment.
Lil Novi replied that he "surely" agreed with the sentiment and thought it was "cool" and "hard". Novi added that he did not want to say that he was "tired of hearing it" but clarified:
"If they talking about like some bullsh*t, then I get tired of hearing it, but if it's just like, they just like giving props type sh*t then it's cool. Some kids they be like, 'Oh that's crazy, like how does it feel to wake up every day', I be like 'Bro I'm just a regular- like I'm a human, like I'm just like ya'll,"
Social media users felt like the 15-year-old kid was too young to understand the impact Lil Wayne had on hip-hop. One Instagram user, who went by @keiveymcfly commented:
"He still too young to understand the importance of his pops,"

Similar reactions followed as netizens felt like the 15-year-old was not old enough to grasp his father's legendary legacy. Here are a few Instagram reactions to Lil Novi's TRSH appearance:

Other social media users were left stunned by how much the 15-year-old looked like his A Milli hitmaker father and R&B singer mother Nivea. Some people thought that Lil Novi even sounded like his father.

Lil Novi thinks that Lil Wayne's music is not his "generation"
Further on in the aforementioned TRSH interview, Lil Novi was asked what he thought was Lil Wayne's top three best albums. The 15-year-old giggled and conceded that he was going to be "so cooked" for the answer to this question. He replied:
"It's just not my generation bruh,"
However, Novi clarified that he indeed listened to his music but he listened to Wayne's newer music and did not listen to his "old stuff". Lil Novi added that he felt Wayne's "top one album" was his 2018 album Tha Carter V, which he thought was "hard" and referred to as his "newest" release, despite 2020's Funeral.
When asked about his earliest memory of seeing his father perform live or listening to his music, Lil Novi recalled the time Wayne brought him on stage during his 2016 Rochester concert, when he was only 6 years old. Novi remembered being "shook" and "blacked out". He couldn't even hear his father telling him to say hi to the crowd as he was simply "stuck".
Neal Carter, who went by Lil Novi, was born to Lil Wayne and Don't Mess with the Radio hitmaker Nivea on November 30, 2009. Novi is the youngest of Wayne's four kids and has also rapped with his brothers on Lil Wayne's 2020 mixtape No Ceilings 3. According to Genius, Novi dropped two albums in 2024, Bat Kave and Planet Vamp.
