“Taking notes from Rihanna” — Fans react as Adele reportedly reveals she is taking a break from music

Rolling in the Deep hitmaker, Adele is reportedly taking a break from music, and fans were left on their knees. During an interview with German broadcaster ZDF on Sunday, July 14, the singer revealed that she planned to take a lengthy break from her singing career and explore other avenues after the conclusion of her Weekends with Adele, Las Vegas residency.

The singer told ZDF in an exclusive interview:

"I don’t have any plans for new music, at all,"

She added:

"I want a big break after this and I think I want to do other creative things, just for a little while."

Social media was set on fire by the singer's abrupt announcement. A plethora of the singer's fans were left disappointed and could not bear the fact that their favorite songstress was not going to release any new music in the near future. A few users were left annoyed and claimed that the singer was already on a break as she hadn't released any new albums since 2021's 30.

Some users wondered what the break meant for the singer as she already took considerable gaps in between projects. A handful of social media users even compared the singer to Rihanna, who hasn't put out a new album since 2016's Anti, and hoped that the Skyfall singer won't follow in Riri's footsteps. Interestingly, a few users wanted the singer to pursue standup comedy as they thought that she was genuinely funny.

Adele wants to take a break from music and pursue an English Literature degree

Adele had previously hinted at a long singing hiatus a few years back. The singer revealed back in 2022 that she would take a break come 2025 to pursue higher education. During a fan Q&A session in Los Angeles back in October 2022, the singer revealed her plans post her Las Vegas residency. She said:

"After Vegas I really want to get a degree in English Literature. If I hadn’t made it in my singing, I think I would definitely be a teacher. I think I’d be an English Lit teacher."

The singer felt like she used her passion for English Literature in what she currently does. Despite not wanting a job with a Literature degree, the singer wished she'd gone to university for the experience. The songstress stated that she was not really going to a university campus this time either. She said:

"I won’t go to a university, I’ll do it online and with a tutor, but that’s my plan for 2025. It’s just to get the qualifications."

Adele's Vegas residency, Weekends With Adele, launched in November 2022 at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Vegas. The residency will conclude after 100 shows later this year. Her final scheduled performance is on November 23, 2024.
