Shortly after attorney Tony Buzbee filed a lawsuit against Jay-Z, Beyoncé's foundation, BeyGOOD, reportedly donated $100,000 to the University of Houston's Law Center Criminal Justice Clinic.
The donation will fund a full-time director and faculty. Buzbee, a University of Houston Law Center alumnus, once served as Managing Editor of the Houston Law Review.
Netizens quickly took to X to express their opinions on Beyonce's foundation donating to the university Tony Buzbee graduated from. Commenting on the same, an X user tweeted:
"Tony Buzbee’s Alma mater 😭 The Carters will have the last laugh."
"the same university Tony graduated from… lol, it never fails." an X user commented.
"Outta all the schools in Houston you picked one the attorney use to attend" another X user mentioned.
"I hope this doesn’t have anything to do with pending JayZ situation 😆 Big conspiracy" an internet user stated.
"Wonder what this is all about." another internet user said.
Additionally, internet users also questioned why Beyonce's foundation donated to the University of Houston in particular and took digs at the singer, alleging it is damage control at her end:

"Jay Z is gonna need them" a netizen mentioned.
"this damage control isnt gonna help with the actual court case btw" another netizen commented.
"Jay Z’s assertions are bogus and laughable": Tony Buzbee comments on Hov's statement on s*xual assault lawsuit
The lawsuit against Jay-Z alleging that the rapper r*ped Jane Doe when she was 13 in 2000 was refiled by Buzbee on December 8, 2024. Jay-Z took to the Roc Nation Instagram account on the same day to post a lengthy statement as a response to the lawsuit wherein he called the claims "idiotic" and alleged that the lawsuit was an extortion ploy.
Additionally, Jay-Z's statement targeted Tony Buzbee by calling him an "ambulance chaser". Hov also questioned Buzbee's military service by stating that Marines are known for their valor, yet Buzbee doesn't have dignity or honor.
Responding to Jay-Z's statement and claims against him, Tony Buzbee took to X on December 10, 2024, and mentioned that the New York Times contacted him for a response to Hov and that his response was straightforward. Clarifying the claims of the lawsuit being a form of extortion, Buzbee said:
"No one has made any threats. Jay Z’s assertions are bogus and laughable."
Buzbee mentioned that his firm sent a standard demand letter seeking mediation on Jane Doe's behalf since it was her preference to attempt a resolution without filing a lawsuit. He added that this approach was common in such cases and Jay-Z used the same to focus the public's attention on Buzbee personally instead of the allegations levied against him.
The Texas-based attorney also claimed that Jay-Z harassed his family and colleagues and even offered money to his former clients for them to sue Buzbee, which is illegal. Toward the end of his statement, Tony Buzbee said:
"We intend to address all of these issues with the court in due course. Let me be clear: We will not be bullied or intimidated by these shenanigans. And our clients won’t be silenced."
Tony Buzbee has become a prominent name in recent months since he filed multiple lawsuits against Diddy accusing the rapper of assault and r*pe. However, the recent lawsuit against Jay-Z is the first one wherein he has mentioned another famous defendant.
