On August 8, rapper Yung Miami broke her silence on accusations against her former boyfriend Sean “Diddy” Combs on her podcast Caresha Please. Her guest and longtime friend Saucy Santana asked her about her experiences dating the Bad Boy Records owner and why she did not speak out about the scandals surrounding him over the months.
In response, Yung Miami stated that Diddy had been nothing but “good to me,” adding that he “helped” her grow her brand as well as “elevated” her as a person.
"I can’t speak on something that wasn’t my experience, and I can’t speak on something that I don’t know. I can’t speak on these allegations because I wasn’t around at the time. I don’t know that person, and that wasn’t my experience," the City Girls member mentioned.
Her remarks have now gone viral, with people on the internet having varied reactions. For instance, Instagram user @bluddsucca commented on The Shade Room’s repost of the podcast clip and hinted that a non-disclosure agreement bound Yung Miami from speaking about her real experiences with Diddy.
“The NDA was NDA'ing,” the user wrote.
Several others joined the conversation on X. Some called her out for not being transparent about her experiences and knowledge about Diddy’s alleged wrongdoings.
“Yung Miami didn’t say not one bad thing about Diddy but dragged JT’s name like eww. You say you’re a victim of DV but can see past Diddy’s BS? #Careshaplease,” a person wrote.
“I understand she didn’t know the person he was before… but as a survivor of DV, how can you watch that video & all of the evidence stacked against him & still think he's a good person?” one person asked.
“Didn’t even make a statement toward that disgusting video of him beating the brakes off Cassie because “she didn’t experience it”. Girl gone,” another person wrote.
“Big NDA!!! She can’t speak on certain things you can tell she watching her words,” an individual wrote.
Others chimed in and defended Yung Miami saying that she was being “smart” with her comments on Diddy, as she didn’t want any unwanted attention on herself, and was probably even scared for her safety.
“Y’all keep talking about she left that man. Wasn’t they just together? But try hide the fact they were... That girl is in fear just like everybody else she knows one wrong word and it was a wrap for her,” a netizen wrote.
“You gotta realize it’s a whole different ballpark when speaking of someone with as much status as diddy. Especially considering his past ways of dealing with people. I think she’s playing her words smart,” another netizen wrote.
“Evb has their own experience with everybody… if it’s good it’s good, if it’s bad it’s bad. Oh well,” one netizen wrote.
Exploring Yung Miami’s comments about the Diddy scandal
On Thursday’s episode of her podcast Caresha Please, Yung Miami opened up about the Diddy scandal for the first time. She shared that she didn’t comment before as she didn’t have similar experiences as the ones made by his alleged victims over the past year.
The 30-year-old tearfully mentioned how “nobody called to see how I was doing” in the wake of back-to-back assault allegations against Sean Combs, which she stated made her feel “alienated.”
"People feel like I was Diddy’s biggest cheerleader and I made him my brand. And I feel like Diddy was on brand for me. I met him when he was in another era. I met Diddy when the world was celebrating him and giving him his flowers,” Yung Miami shared.
She added how her relationship with Sean Combs happened when he was getting multiple accolades including the Global Icon Award at the 2023 MTV VMAs, and the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2022 BET Awards, among others.
"He had a new album that was coming out, so I was celebrating him with the world. And I just feel like everybody’s trying to crucify me for it. I was just celebrating when the world was celebrating him, so why am I being crucified, or why am I being separated?" Yung Miami sasked.
The Florida native went on to add how she was a domestic violence victim from two past relationships and thus “told myself, at the end of that second relationship, 'I would never put myself in that situation again.’”
"He saw a lot of things in me, and I feel like that's one of his specialties, like, he knows how to find people and identify their talent. He was able to see more than music in me," she reflected on her relationship with Combs.
Towards the end of the conversation, Yung Miami confirmed that she was no longer dating the hip-hop mogul and was in a relationship with him primarily to seek advice and become a businessperson herself.
She also clarified that when the allegations started coming out against her ex-boyfriend, she took a “break” from the negativity, and instead focussed on what was important, her family and career. The rapper said that she decided to "let him navigate and figure it out on his own because I can't get caught up in that."
Sean Combs and Yung Miami were first rumored to be dating in 2021 and later went public with their relationship in June 2022 during an episode of her podcast. In mid-2023, she came out saying that she was single.
The mother of two was named in one of the lawsuits filed against Diddy earlier this year by his former associate and music producer Rodney "Lil Rod" Jones Jr. where Miami was claimed as one of the many women “who were paid monthly fee to work as Mr. Combs’ s*x workers,” as well as someone who allegedly obtained drugs for the hip-hop magnate.
