"The treatment was just disgusting" — Nicki Minaj claims when Dutch officials put out statement of her release she was still at police station

Anaconda rapper Nicki Minaj was arrested on May 25, 2024, at the Amsterdam airport and she informed her fans of the same as she went live on Instagram. She stated that she had been arrested for carrying soft drugs.

Later on the livestream platform Stationhead on May 29, 2024, Nicki Minaj spoke about the treatment she experienced during the arrest and also hinted at her race playing a primary part in her arrest and what followed later.

She stated that she could not get to Manchester referring to her cancelled concert in the U.K. due to her arrest. The Barbie World rapper mentioned that she didn't know the last time she felt this low and stated:

“Not only that, but knowing that something is being done to you on purpose simply because you are a confident other race […] There was one lady there — all the rest were men — and I could tell she had a heart. The treatment was just disgusting and I wouldn’t wish that on anyone.”

The Dutch national police agency, the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee tweeted on X (former Twitter) on May 26, 2024, stating that a 41-year-old American woman was arrested on suspicion of "exporting soft drugs" and was released after getting fined. According to BBC, she was fined €350 ($380).

Moreover, Nicki told on Stationhead that the police agency tweeted information of her release as "damage control", given that she was still in the building when the tweet came out.

According to HipHop DX, Nicki Minaj came live on Instagram on May 25, 2024, wherein an airline staff member can be seen informing the rapper that her belongings will be undergoing a search. She told her fans via live stream that it was "just a random quick check" and that the staff wanted to open her things.

As per Hip Hop DX, in the caption of the now-deleted Instagram post, the Pound The Alarm rapper stated:

“They’ve been trying to stop me from coming to every show. They took my bags before I could see them. Put it on the plane. Now saying they’re waiting on customs."

Nicki Minaj also kept updating her fans via Twitter and mentioned that the airlines claimed to have found weed and pre-rolls in her luggage which her security claimed responsibility for.

Nicki also stated that everything the airline is doing is illegal and what happened to her is what it looks like when people are "paid big money to try to sabotage a tour".

Additionally, the Everybody rapper posted an apology on X(formerly Twitter) on May 26, 2024, requesting her fans to accept her deepest and most sincere apologies, mentioning that "this too, shall pass."

The rapper's arrest left 20,000 excited fans disappointed as they had been waiting in the Co-op arena for her show to start. The promoter of the concert, Live Nation then announced that the gig would have to be postponed.


The dates of Nicki Minaj's Manchester concert are now shifted to June 3, 2024. Announcing the same, Nicki said that the concert would be "really special".

Nicki is currently on the Pink Friday 2 World Tour which began March 2, 2024, in Oakland and has become the highest-grossing rap tour for a female artist in Boxscore history according to a Billboard report, dated May 16, 2024.
