Ice Spice updated tracks on Y2K! album: Details explored
Ice Spice announced that the deluxe version of her debut album Y2K!, released in July 2024, will include five new tracks, as reported by Rap-Up on December 24. The updated album, Y2K!: I'm Just A Girl (Deluxe), features collaborations with NLE Choppa and DaBaby on Hannah Montana, Bb trickz on the BB Belt (Remix), Anuel AA on the Popa (Remix), as well as the tracks So What and Like.
Ahead of the deluxe album's official release, the rapper asked fans to choose between a blue and pink cover designed by David LaChapelle.
During an interview with Rolling Stone in July 2024, Ice Spice talked about one of the records that she was planning to add to Y2K! : I’m Just A Girl (Deluxe) at the time.
“The beat is hypnotizing. When I heard it, I was like, ‘Yeah'. I don’t like to have to convince myself of a beat. I want to feel possessive of the beat. I want to be like, ‘Nobody can get this.’ Whenever I love a beat, I will tell Riot, ‘You better hit up whoever made the loop and make sure they don’t send that shit out to nobody.,'" she said.
During the interview, the rapper also talked about growing up in the Bronx, addressing comments online that tell her to go back to the borough. Commenting on growing up in the Bronx, the rapper said:
“It’s just like, bro, if you grow up in the Bronx, you know how treacherous it gets. So it’s like, for you to threaten me to go back there, it’s like you want to fight me now.”
The rapper added that she has seen people get stabbed to death and bleed out in the street in the middle of the day in her neighborhood in the Bronx.
After the release of her debut album, Ice Spice went on the Y2K! Word Tour from July 4, 2024, wherein she performed at festivals across Europe and headlined her first run in North America with sold-out shows at Los Angeles and New York City. The rapper's tour is set to end on January 5, 2025.
