Making an appearance on The Art of Dialogue on December 14, 2024, Dr Umar commented on the recent s*xual assault lawsuit against Jay-Z and Diddy, aka Sean John Combs, being denied bail three times since his arrest. When asked how does he feel about Diddy being denied bail, Dr Umar said:

"That's ridiculous. Puffy, Shawn Combs, being denied bail three times is unacceptable. How can he be denied bail three times, Art?...You know why they doing this? This is all about intimidation. This is all about humiliation. Humiliation and intimidation. They are sending a loud message to Black celebrities."

To make his argument compelling, Dr Umar said Combs was denied bail thrice while Vince McMahon hasn't even been arrested. Umar was referring to the lawsuit filed against McMahon and WWE in October 2024, accusing them of knowing and failing to stop the sexual exploitation of young boys by a ringside announcer, claimed by five alleged victims.

Speaking from the perspective of the authorities, Umar said:

"You are not above the law. You have no more power than any other Black person. You will do what we say, and if you don't, we will destroy you."

Dr Umar said the authorities were destroying the Black billionaires to set an example of how powerless Black celebrities are. He also said the instance of Diddy not being released on bail is "complete racism." Umar mentioned that the rapper has children, and nobody is thinking about them.

Additionally, Dr Umar compared the s*xual assault lawsuit against Jay-Z to the ones against Combs and said Jay-Z responded to the allegations against himself while Puffy retreated.

Why was Diddy denied bail three times? Details explored

Diddy was arrested in September 2024 on charges of s*x trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution. According to a report by the Economic Times dated October 2024, U.S. Magistrate Judge Robyn Tarnofsky denied Puffy's bail for the first time as he agreed with the prosecutors, claiming that the rapper would be a potential risk if released on terms of home detention.

According to a report by Sky News dated September 19, 2024, Diddy was denied bail a second time. He was denied despite his defense offering a $50 million bond secured with the rapper's properties and the property owned by his mother in Florida, along with 24/7 monitoring by law enforcement and restrictions on phone and internet access.

Judge Andrew L. Carter upheld the previous decision, stating no bail conditions could prevent the rapper from witness tampering or ensure the safety of the community, as proved by the government "by clear and convincing evidence."

As per The Guardian's report dated November 28, 2024, U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian denied Diddy's bail for the third time. He cited the same reason as Judge Andrew L. Carter concerning the safety of the community and the possibility of witness tampering. Referring to the $50 million bond and other conditions for the rapper's release put forth by his defense, U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian's ruling mentioned:

"Given the nature of the allegations in this case and the information provided by the government, the court doubts the sufficiency of any conditions that place trust in Combs and individuals in his employ – like a private security detail – to follow those conditions."

According to a report by Variety dated December 13, 2024, Diddy's legal counsel filed a motion to dismiss the appeal for bail in the rapper's ongoing racketeering and s*x trafficking case. After being denied bail thrice, the rapper has decided to remain in custody as he awaits his trial set to begin in May 2025.
